Exclamation Y exhaust pipe for 93 Dakota 3.9

My 93 Dakota 3.9 4x4 has a hole in the y pipe where it's rubbing on the driveshaft/tranny and it has worn a hole in there. The hole is before the cat and it's making my truck run rich. Now I'm looking for a stock replacement but I've yet to find one. Has anyone had better luck or replaced theirs already?

Consensus seems to be have one custom made. Alas, they don't seem to be anywhere in stock.

Another choice may be to have that section cut out and a replacement welded in; that should be cheaper and quicker.

Have you found what shifted to allow the driveshaft to rub the y pipe? I would find that first, and then hopefully be able to weld a patch on the header pipe.

If the driveshaft shifted enough to rub a hole in it, the trans mount is bad, or the cross member dropped. As for an easy, possibly cheap way to fix it, if you can get it out, find someone to just weld a patch over the wear spot, but, i would also change the mounts.

Here is a picture of the y-pipe wedged in between the driveshaft and the transmission. My truck is a 5spd and 4x4 by the way.

Mine is a 94, but everything else is the same as yours. I would definitely check the engine mounts on at least that side. Something had to cause that to drop like that. On mine, with new mounts, i have at least 4 inches of clearance between the front shaft and the exhaust, but on yours, it looks like the mount broke, and let the engine drop.

yeah just got done putting my basketcase 96 back together, there really isn't much room between the driveshaft and exhaust in that spot.

I will definitely check my engine mounts today.
