One reason I bought my CX-5 is it has a sculpted look, not bland. The same with the PT Cruiser. I wasn't sure ZZ Top did anything on them. It's grown on me and I'm looking forward to using it while I upgrade the brakes on the Mazda. By the way, I pulled the timing cover and the belt looks good and snug with not cracks or wear. No oil on the inside of the cover or coolant leaks. I'm thinking it has about 30-40,000 on it. I'm going to pull the alternator and make sure it doesn't have a bearing going bad. Nice car but a bear to work on.

 

Hee! The joke is that Gibbons owns (owned?) a 1933 Ford Eliminator; there's more than a passing resemblence between the Eliminator and the PT Cruiser.

(Yes, the Elminator is a 2 seater.)

It's a nice looking vehicle, that's for sure.

You just need to be a Sharp Dressed Man while driving it ...

But - today I drove the Dakota to the gas station and put 17.3 gallons of 89 octane in.

Low Fuel light went on and off as I was rocking the truck getting into it, so that works.

Fuel gauge went all the way to full; guess next is to see how it does going down.

Wanted to add this post, showing what I have been up to......

Take the hood off, makes life easier.

 

Actually, I just used the strap and tied it back as far as it would go..... I was surprised, but it cleared and went in.
Im having to do everything myself, so taking the hood on and off is a big deal for me....

 

I removed my hood alone. I traced the hinge location with a gold sharpie.Broke the bolts loose and lowered the hood so it sat on some cribbing materiel, A couple 2x4 or a 4x4 across. Took the bolts out the rest of the way. Going back in the same way in reverse then tighten the bolts without fully tightening them. Lift the hood use cribbing as you adjust it to like up with the sharpie marks and then do final tightening. I had to readjust it a couple of times after to make it align. Looks Nice.
