After I'm done with the R&P bushings I plan to change out my motor mounts. With that, I have a couple questions (naturally).

1) I am attaching the 1993 FSM instructions for changing out the motor mounts for my 5.2L. The manual is big into engine lifting fixtures and vehicle hoists. Probably because they have those things and a water boy to roll it over to them when they want it. But seriously, can I simply put a 2x4 or 2x6, or 8, or 10 between the oil pan and my floor jack and support the engine this way? And I suspect not to jack it up but to just jack it up enuf to HOLD the engine position ONLY?

2) RockAuto sells several brands of motor mounts. Westar, DEA, Anchor, and Pioneer. The only one I ever heard of was Anchor. But truthfully, my knowledge of motor mounts is only slightly better than my knowledge of phytoplankton. Any preferences here?

3) Then there is the whole thing of replacing just the insulator assy AND/OR bracket. Obviously, I'd lean toward changing it all out but I don't know what difficulties I would encounter with any of this. No idea how difficult this job is. ?? And if I have to bust my back laying on the garage floor cranking on stuff I may just hire my mechanic. Too old for some of this crap. Changing out rear shocks yesterday is one thing. That's quick and easy. Changing out motor mounts could be another thing altogether.

My hood bump stops. One is missing. Anyone know where I can get one? Truck specific or universal?

NEVERMIND. I found them at Amazon or RockAuto. OEM p/n 4103165

Anyone see any reason why these wouldn't work for my oil drain plug?

Well, the fact those are 14mm, and your drain plug is 1/2", would be an indicator to not try them.

Inside diameter is claimed to be .56", which may be good enough.

I use a Dorman part Oil Drain Plug Gasket | 097-117CD | Nylon Rib Drain Plug Gasket, Fits 1/2, M12 So | Dorman Products which fits just right, and toss them every time.

Pack I buy is the 3 pack; they sell a 25 pack also.

1) The usual DIY way is to use a 2x4 or broader under the oil pan, yes. You just have to remember two things - 1) It won't lift the motor until the bolts are out (the long cross bolt); otherwise you risk crumping the oil pan up. 2) I'd consider a 4x4 or so between the block and frame ALSO while my hands were down in there.

2) Dunno; I've got an Anchor and a Westar to put on my truck, and they look identical. My Cougar has a pair of Anchors, and they lasted longer than the motor did. (Had to modify one, though; so pay attention in case there's some minor grinding needed.)

3) I don't think the insulator only is available; but there's the frame horns (which stay) and the mount adapter (which stays).

Be sure to check Motor Mount options on magnum swap - DodgeForum.com (actually the whole thread) where robertmee figured out how to mount the aftermarket mounts up to the motor.

I kinda gave a cursory looksee at those mounts while I was photographing the hood bump stops. There appears to be more space by those mounts than I thought.

So that long cross bolt is what connects the bracket to the actual insulator? I'm guessing this is where I would have to fine tune the lift pressure underneath to get that bolt some freedom to come out? Also thinking this is a "one-mount-at-a-time" job?

I'll check out Robert's thread too. Appreciate the link.

How the hell did you end up with one Westar and one Anchor?

Looked over Robert's thread you linked. Curious...is the 5.9L the old 340? What are the differences between the 5.2L and 5.9L in terms of block mounting (and other considerations).

5.9 liters is 360CID. They use the same mounts, so it carries across.

Differences are almost all internal (bigger bore, longer stroke.)

The 340 can be thought of as a 360 block with a 318 crank (it's not actually, but that's pretty darn close.)

The 340 was never sold by Mopar with Magnum mounts; I understand Dart made a few 340 blocks with them, but I could be wrong on that.

Oh, RockAuto had only one Anchor, so I ordered a single Westar (at the time, the Westar was $1.50 more than an Anchor ... )

In other notes -yep, the passenger side poly bushings are dying on my truck; the front one is definately no longer centered.

So I get to replace those also.

There is a TSB on the bushings failing due to heat ... but I can't find it now.

No big deal; but that does mean I'll order a set of control arms so I can get them powder coated.
