I was surprised when the roofers showed up today, and in 45 mph gusts they got the moisture barrier on the entire roof. We have this atmospheric river event slamming the west coast, and for the next 7 days we have at least a 50% chance of precipitation. I will sleep better knowing the building is now rain proof (except for the lack of garage doors).

 

Question becomes, will it still be there in the morning.

 

This puppy is tied down! The building anchors to the stem wall are more than adequate. We have had 80 mph wind events with no issues.

 

When the roofer were doing my chicken coop, they did the tarpaper things on a thursday evening, and then left. We had a bit of a breeze overnight, and when the roofers came back in the morning, there was only a couple scraps of tarpaper left on the roof. The rest was MIA.

 

50 mph winds, and the paint crew is out there painting the eaves and facia. I guess my contractor really wants that roof up before this weekend's storm blows through.

 

Probably a good plan.

 

Moisture barrier on the roof, and the eaves/facia/gable vents painted. We are now ready for the roof to go on! The stucco company is coming out Monday to walk the job site, and Tuesday the garage floor coating estimator will drop by for an estimate. I am still looking for input from them on what type of coating, or any at all. But it doesn't hurt to get a free estimate!

 

This may be a little soon, but I will be selling everything off of my 1995 Dakota. The only things I will be keeping are the chassis, front suspension (stock springs and shocks are not being kept), rack and pinion, and the bench seat. So if anyone is interested in any parts, hit me up. Large heavy items will require pick up near Carson City, Nevada. The truck will begin to be dismantled early next year, once I can move into the new shop.

 

After a failed attempt to go to southern California to spend Thanksgiving with my wife's family, and see our son, daughter in law, and grand daughter as they spend Thanksgiving with her family, we have landed back home with a broken vehicle. We got three hours south before my truck broke down, waited 4-1/2 hours for a tow truck, another three hours tow home, and I am happy with a nice glass of bourbon. Since our son lives in Virginia, it was a bummer to miss a chance to see them on the west coast. But we are home, and AAA picked up the tab. They probably haven't figured out how much they are paying for my shop yet!! While we were travelling today, they installed the human door, and raised the roof material onto the building. I haven't been able to confirm that as it is pitch black outside, and 24 degrees. I will wait for the sun to come up! Friday morning the roof gets installed. On Monday morning, the electrician is coming to start the wiring install. Yesterday the stucco guy came out, and he wants to put up his scaffolding, He has to wait for the electrician since the breaker box and two external outlets have to go in prior to outside scaffolding. Yeah, not a quiet holiday weekend. But stuff is getting serious!
