Default Dodge Duranogo Problems

Hi guys....

I have a 99 Dodge Durango with the 5.9L I have a Vortech SuperCharger. Well ive been getting a 2 check engine lights with one being 1494 and the other is 0442. what do i need to replace to get rid of the check engine light. My second problem which is 100 times worse than the check engine light is my D sometimes turns off with no warning. it turns off at various speeds after waiting 15-30 minutes the D turns right back up and work fine. Can this be the PCM? any help will be appreciated

Yes, the outage is more than likely the PCM.

Your Supercharged 1999 a Blue Shelby Durango?

It's all emissions:

P1494 Leak Detection Pump Switch or Mechanical Fault

P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)

Not to good in the emissions department but it sounds like a vacume leak. Check the gas cap.

It is normal that sometimes a small leak will trigger the system then turn off.

It's a P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak) not a P0420.

I would replace the gas cap.

Use the search at the top of the page and search advanced for the P0442 and you will find plenty of info on it. Just search in the Durango 1st generation area. Here's one from the search.

how can i check to make sure the timing is correct? Does anyone have a spark plug wire diagram so i can make sure the wires are set correctly?

Okay well i cleared the codes again. I want to see which ones I get a second time so i can replace them and i got the 1494 so i will be replacing the LDP on tuesday. Know the wierdest thing happend twice the D stalled which thats normal by now but when i went to restart it it started back up but with a really low RPM and i could here a type of knocking sound then the D turned off by itself and what seems to be the exhaust smoke came out of the intake filter? would a clogged cat do this?

I am wondering about a crank shaft sensor located under your distributor. They look like a set of points. Speaking of which, have you replaced your cap, rotor, and wires?

And also what about a vacume leak?????
