Default Cruise Control Problem

I've searched around and not really found any other threads with my problem. At least not any that had solutions.

1. My cruise light comes on when I turn it on
2. Cruise does not engage and the other three buttons do nothing.

Anyone else has this problem or know how to solve?

First i would the vacuum source,at the intake manifold. Are there any other problems, like air bag lite on,door locks not locking at 18 mph or no overdrive?

Cruise and ac are both connected in one way. Vacuum controls the blend door and mode door in your HVAC system. If you lose vacuum to your HVAC system it will default to heat and defrost.

Are they mechanical on the later models D's? Mines vacuum controlled for the recirc and mode door. IIRC the blend door is mechanical on mine still. Hmmmm I was tired last night.

There are 2 things to look into:

1. A bad TPS but that usually includes surging of the motor in about 300 rpm when cruising down the hwy.

2. A bad brake switch above the brake petal.
