I bet your wallet is feeling that. Sure will be nice to have a nice new transmission soon.

Hi Guys, I am interested in adding A overhead console with temp, compass and homelink into my 37 Ford Street Rod Coupe. Could care less about the other features. The tech guys at our local MOPAR shop said it should work fine without having to run the harness through a computer, but a seller on EBAY states it will not work? Can anybody advise? Am looking at this style overhead as found on EBay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Liberty-Grand-Cherokee-300m-Concorde-Interior-Overhead-Console-EVIC-Homelink-/171115071409?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1999%7CMake%3ADodge&hash=item27d740c7b1&vxp=mtr

Thanks in advance,

Tom Weaver

btw, not sure if this matters or not, but I'm running a American Autowire Highway 22 universal wiring kit in the car. A tech guy from two different MOPAR shops are telling me that all I need is a positive, ground for compass and positive ground for the temp sensor. Is this true? Is a Bus needed for what I'm trying to accomplish?

I'd think it would work for just temp and compass, just the other features wouldn't work without the ccd bus connection.

Your thought is exactly what the technicians stated here in Wichita Ks as well. A seller that sells kits on EBAY said the only unit that would work for me, would be the long overhead console from a 97-01 Dakota/Durango Overhead Console Retrofit Kit with HomeLink. This not the exact item the seller is offering, but is from him.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/02-04-Dodge-Dakota-Durango-Overhead-Console-Homelink-and-Auto-Dim-Mirror-/171196499145?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item27dc1b44c9 This unit doesn’t fit in my car and is not that appealing either.
Please chime in if anybody has further info to assist.

Thanks,

Tom

YES. That's the one. This unit wont fit in a 37 ford coupe and must utilize the short style as posted above. Plus it looks fantastic!!! The closest thing I can find to the short unit is one from a 98-05 S10 Blazer and it is not that appealing compared to a MOPAR unit.

Blazer unit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Interior-Overhead-Console-1998-2005-S10-Blazer-1998-2001-Jimmy-/171236723796?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27de810c54&vxp=mtr

Isn’t the temp sensor located near the grille? So you’d actually need the sensor to actual get a reading of outside temp????

That's what I thought.... Here is what CRUS Chesterfield said:

This console will not display the temperature without the bus signal from the car. I do have a different type which would work for your application. Please send your e-mail address and I can send you some details later today

Honestly...do you REALLY need that upper console?

I can’t even remember the last time I used mine. The direction is nice, but the outside temp.. never used that. All my vehicles have that feature and I honestly can’t remember the last time I actually looked at in regards to actually needing to know that information.
