Default Plenum Gasket TSB 09-05-00

http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2000/09-05-00.htm

So, how can you check if you still fall under this bulletin?
I have a 1999 Durango and I see a little oil on my Plenum Plate plus is is running as if it is not firing on all cylinders.
If I take it in to check if I have a leak, do I still fall under this service bulletin?

You do fall under that TSB, But not for warranty repairs. I know what I about to write, I will be tar and feather. If you have over 70,000 miles, and the engine is misfiring. Replace both cylinder heads. And the plenum gasket too. I have done the tune up, and the plenum gasket. This is a common problem with dodge cylinder heads, that we as dodge techs have seen.

TSBs (technical service bulletins) are covered under warranty (if you still have it), RECALLS are covered regardless unless that part has already been replaced.

Default Thanks

Thank you for the quick reply.
Not misfiring, over 70k miles, a little oil on plenum plate so I think it is time.

Well, it didn't hurt to ask.

If I follow the instructions given in the TSB and a post in these forums about how to replace the gasket I should be good, right?

Again, appreciate the response.

Yeah you should be good, there is a very recent write up on here telling how to do it.

Default Gasket Kit

Not advertising.

Is this a good gasket to get for the Plenum:

And while doing the Plenum Gasket maybe even get this?:

...and get these...:

Just figured I might as well go this far seeing what the conditions of the plugs, air intake etc. was.

So, now...I am in Yuma, Arizona. The summers here get very hot. I am looking at 120+ fahrenheit. Which Anti-Freeze would be recommended?

Oil...I see that there is a good chance anti-freeze will get mixed with the oil during the plenum gasket replacement. I have never done an oil-change but would be able to do it myself though. I want to go all Synthetic.
Once I assemble the whole thing again, drain the oil and possible water mix, should I just run regular oil for a little to get rid of any other water and/or debris before I commit to Synthetic?
Thought of maybe completing the job, get normal oil into the engine with some sort of light detergent to clean, drain and do a final Synth Oil-Change...sort of like an enema for my durango.
Want to be ready for the summer and some fun in the dunes down in Mexico without having to worry about overheating or any other issues.

I would get the dorman Gasket set and the o-rings, DEF change the o-rings.

I wouldn't run any detergents in my crankcase. The put reg oil in it and a little bit then change to full syn is a good idea, I put just Cheapo Castrol in my truck right after doing th plenum, then I did another oil change 2 weeks later (only 400 miles) to Mobil 1

Don't worry about the first link. The 2nd link (the doorman Gasket set, has the plenum gasket in it with all of the other gaskets and new bolts as well, wish I would have seen that when I did mine!

Default Plenum

Ya, just noticed as well...the dorman has it all.

I am reading somewhere about Mopar Combustion Chamber cleaner.
Maybe, seeing that the car needs some cleaning.

Will absolutely do the o-rings. Got my heads up about the condition of seals, gaskets and rings when i cleaned my throttle-body.
