nice. ill mesage you as well but you probably are just the person i am looking for.... i have a 2000 3.9 v6 dakota sport. 5 speed manual. since it is winter time i am not changing my seals and i have a leak from it sitting, im not sure what oil to put into the transmission other than the NV3500 which it takes 2.2 liters. what is an equivalent oil to use in this?/best choice... because dodge dealership is costing me $30/liter garage price ..... ($26.22 after taxes) the help would be great thanks.

Default 1997 dakota 3.9

I just bought this truck and when driveing slow it will try to shift from 1st to 2nd but seems to get caught inbetween and then go's back into 1st. Plus when I drive the highway for awhile it will automaticly turn off overdrive. I have reset the pcm. but it seems as if it has to cool down for alittle while and then overdrive will work again. Anybody have any ideas?

Default 97 dakota possible tranny problems need your help

Hey guys i drive a 1997 dodge dakota slt with the 5.2l 318 ive noticed that when it is driven in O/D it is kind of chuggy, and takes a while to get up to speed and when i want to feed it the gas it almost has a delay but when i manually shift it from 1st to 2nd and the to drive it does just fine ive been told by numerous people that it could very well be the shift solenoid but i came on here to get someones opinion that actually knows what there talking about lol i just got the truck not to long ago and it had alot of power and when you romped on the gas it would go but now its like theres a hesitation when left in overdrive. thank you

When you take off from a stop is it slow or normal? Also when in od if you put it to the floor will it down shift and take off like it should?

Sounds like a shift solenoid. We had a one go in our 04 grand cherokee. Would start out in 3rd. Wouldnt go into first even if you did it manually would just go to second. Tested this out by using 4lo going to first then shifting to 2nd to see if there was a change and sure enough it never gave the rough shift as I moved into 2nd. We ended up getting our shift solenoid and our governor pressure solenoid changed since they were in there. Tranny shop said they usually fail when the other fails not long after. It was only a 40.00 so decided to do it.

I have a 1998 Ram 1500 automatic, pulled off the freeway and could no longer move forward. Got it off the highway and checked fluid, was just under 1 qt low. fileld the fluid level back up and now can drive in lower gears but cannot get high gear. Truck acts like it wants to go but just can't get there.....
Fluid level is exactly on the full mark when idling in neutral, fluid is somewhat darker than normal and smells burnt. Any suggestions?
