Hello Master Tech
I own a 1998 1500 and been having a grinding noice like brake plates rubbing. The noice has slowly been getting louder and always goes away when the clutch is pressed in. Again noise goes away when the clutch is plressed in comes back immidiately when clutch is released. Today the check engine light came on, had it checked out and seams to be a P0455. Any and all help is greatly needed walked for almost a year before I got my truck dont want to do that again.
Thank You
Bill Jansen

First off, thank you mastertech!

2002 3.9L Auto

My truck seems to jump into gear violently when switching between Park, Reverse, Drive (order doesn't matter). Normally only happens when its warm.

Ive checked the fluid, still seems nice and red! 45,000 KMS.

'04 Quad Cab Dakota, 4.7, auto trans, 72,000 miles.
In the morning particularly and some times if it has just set up a few hours, I start the truck, put it in reverse and it sits there and then barely moves, If I continue in Forward the engine over revs and then 1/2 block later shifts normally.

If I allow it to warm up before shifting 98% of the time it operates 100%. Had the fluid changed and the spin on replaced with the proper one along w the reg filter, still does it. Now they tell me a rebuild will fix it, the pump may be bad. Nope, not gonna do it, as it never causes a problem any other time.

I am thinking the fluid is being allowed to drain out (valve?) and until the fluid is pumped back in it does what I am describing. Any suggestions?? email and phone available if you need it. Frank

This weekend I replaced the 2 sensors for the intermit. hunting of the gear.. I have to say first I noticed the shifts seem weaker.. (smoother almost non existent) but never seemed to try and hunt for 2-3 again.. but last night it did it again though..

I'm really getting tired of this dodge Quick..I'm about ready to sell it and get a Older Ford.

Any help would be great.

Master Tech here is my question:
I have 2002 3.9l 5speed 2wd. I believe it is a NV1500. I've seem a video of a NV3500, and it doesn't look the same.

I drove the truck on a trip and started to get a high pitch moan. It would also pop out of fifth gear if I started to feather the gas pedal. I figured it was the throw out bearing. Jump a couple months later, i replaced the clutch, bearing, and slave. drove it home and the moan started again. I lost some fluid when I dropped the trans, so I replace the fluid, and the moan went away. Now the sound i'm getting from the truck is a low moan while driving. The truck still pops out of gear, not only in fifth, but third also. When I press in the clutch while sitting still, it makes a winding down moan.

What should I do? Can I upgrade? Does someone make HD parts for this trans?

i have a 318 eng, 5 speed, 4 wheel drive , when at a red light / stop sign and in first gear when i release the clutch it will sometimes pop into neatual, what is causing this ???? it will only do this in first, all other gears are fine, also i have ( as a test ) put it into first gear and hammer the fuel and let off and hammer it again and it stays in first without poping out of gear, i have made sure that i have it into first good at a stop sign but will still do it sometimes ??? thanks

I think our good friend MasterTech went MIA. Hope is well. Look forward to his return. I still have the intermittent shift "Floating/Hunting" of gears..
