Default SOHC or DOHC?

maybe a dumb question...

but trying to search on various Neon boards and google Neon engine specs and not getting anywhere

I have a 2004 Neon SE... do I have a Single overhead cam or a dual overhead cam engine?

all I know is that it has 16 valves

Most any engine that has more than 2 valves per cylinder most likely is a DOHC engine.
the exception to this rule are the oddball 3 valve per cylinder designs (bugatti, honda, and from what I read the ford 4.6 modular)

WRONG.

the neon SOHC engines are all 4valve per cylinder or 16V.

yea, but according to that link... the only 2 gen engine with DOHC ius the SRT

R/T says it is SOHC... think that is why you can actually adapt to fit, the head from a 2.0 Magnum engine (from the R/T) on a regular 2.0 motor... but don't think you get anymore power or advantage from it... unless it is the intake and exhaust ports you are trying to mate up with R/T intakes and exhausts
