02 neon limp mode, need help
Hey guys i been working on this car off and on for a year trying to fix it with no luck.
I replaced a few things put still not coming out of limp mode. Well i was checking the PCM wiring harness and when i got to the fuse box under the hood and took the top of to see the wires I discovered a mess. There is about 6 or 7 wires that are chewed up pretty badly or completely ripped. Now a few of them are connected to fuses while the rest run threw the box and to the wiring harness for the PCM.
Im pretty sure i know the answer to this but you think this is the problem Im having for my 02 neon?
Also you think i should try to fix the wires myself or replaced the whole harness which seems like a huge job?
2002 dodge neon 2.0L 4 speed auto( i believe for tranny)

well the car wont come out of 2nd gear. THe car was originally my friends sister. She had electrical issues with it, supposely got them fixed but later on the car died on her. she gave it to me. It needed mounts, 4 valves replaced, timing chain, water pump and i recently just replaced the tranny shift solenoid cause i thought that was the problem.
Its not throwing any codes when i do the key dance. I haven't scanned it with a OBD2 yet but i think im gonna have to to check for more codes.
I also replaced tranny filter and and added ATF4 fluid. Car wont shift out put has reverse. Speedo also doesnt work. YOu guys think that the jacked up wiring is the issue here

I'd fix that wiring just to eliminate it as a variable. It needs to be fixed anyways, and if it ends up being the problem then that's a bonus. If not, that's one less thing that it could be and you can move on to more troubleshooting.
Do you have a repair manual? If not I suggest getting one. At least then you can look at the wire colors and possibly figure out what the wires are related to and if it's part of your problem as well.

ok i just got done soldering all the chewed wires. Earlier before i solder them i tried to start the car up so i can move it and it started then reved real high and right before rev it made a loud clunk. it threw the code for a vacuum leak. I dont understand what the clunk was but im about to reinstall the throttle body wire and start it up
