Hi, My name is Pam and I have a Dodge Neon Se 2.0 and three weeks ago I had the timing belt replaced since then I had cyl. misfire and crank shaft sensor code errors after a Dodge Dealership changed the timing belt, took it back and they kept saying its not the timing but the Crank shaft sensor so we had them to change it. So after they changed it I still had issues with not "coding" with high rpms took it back and they said the computer shows everything is ok but I may have a secondary issue ( after the 4th diagnostic test) after I left and got home and shut the car off it thumped and then we could hardly start it the following morning took it back and they replaced the timing belt called around noon and said my vibration was not high idle but two motor mounts needs replaced we had another mechanic check them they said we had another 2yrs or so on them ( last june)and after i said i will change them later and 4 hours later the dealership said I have a possible crank shaft sensor and cam shaft sensor error bad ringtones? the car is still sluggish and high idle the car only had one error last year after the crank sensor was changed and it was running great until after the timming belt was replaced tried telling the dealer ship that but they refused to listen to me or my husband they used the previous error as why my car was not working properly and kept saying we need another diagnostic test to find it. any suggestions its the only car I have and can afford right now. I know my car being a mechanics daughter I was raised around cars and know pretty much the basics and know a little about the computer functions. Tired of taking the car there and something else ends up wrong after they work on it.
Have you worked your way up the chain at the dealership? There is IMO something wrong with the car from them working on it. Any idea though if they checked to make sure the camshaft position sensor magnet wasn't cracked?
I have tried to talk to the manager but get he is out of office or he is on the phone and never calls me back. To be honest, no I dont think they checked it but I do think they messed it up and they know they did but dont want to admit it cause they always want to charge me for a diagnostic and I asked if the cam shaft senor would throw a code , I was told no and there is no way for us to check it even with a diagnostic, but yet they still want to do one and charge me for it.
Time to go above the manager and not be paying anything else. Saved your receipts, yeah? Take 'em in to whomever it may be next. As for what they told you about the Camshaft Sensor not being able to throw a code, they are full of it. There are a few codes specifically for it (P0340 is the most common), as well as a way to check proper function with a digital multimeter.
