I put a new ($40 from the dealer) water temp. sensor in. It is the 2 pronged one that feeds the computer information on temp. It seems the PO broke it trying to install it. I had to make a tool out of a bent wrench. I did not want to break this one. Everything worked great. I also would like to thank the people here for sharing the information about raising the passenger's side of the vehicle while burping the system. It worked flawlessly. It took a whole gallon of anti freeze to fill back up and I only lost maybe a quart. Not sure this was filled properly before. Thank you to all.

Well yesterday I replaced all 4 shocks with Rancho RS5000's, made a huge difference in ride I am happy with them this far. Today I replaced the headlight lenses with a brand new set I picked up off Kijiji, one piece lenses install took about a 1/2 hour.

Sold the front bumper and finished dropping the transmission last night. Looks like people are coming out this weekend to grab the radiator, driver's side door panel, visors, rear bumper, horns, hood, and more.

Looked at it, thought about how nice it would be to drive it somewhere...

no

not interested in your snake oil lol

I could take the twins off and put a stock turbo on there...it will "spool quicker" for about a couple seconds till it went boom...

could even strap a nitrous bottle to it and get some quicker spool.

but I'm not planning on sacrificing any power, drivability, or running fuel sources or accelerants other than #2 diesel and outside air.

also VGT's are not reliable in high HP diesels...the vanes tend to cake up with soot and get jammed.

Default what I did today

drove it to the basketball court early this morning around 8, then got home and washed n waxed it. then took it for a drive down the road to see a guys Dakota w/ a 318 get sideswiped by a caravan. it wasn't to bad it probably needs a little body work around tail light, new tail light, exhaust was bent, and alignment.

Tore down the motor. Took me about 2 hrs or less to get this far.

Reason for miss seems to be blown plenum due to the amount of oil and carbon on number 8 piston. But the plenum pan was surprisingly clean...

Can you post pix of the valves, and what's 7 look like? All the oil in the plenum was down buy 8 and 7 so those jugs will pick up oil sooner than the rest. You do a leak down test before teardown? Rings maybe?

Ill get some pics of the head tomorrow. As for number 7 cyl, i am not removing the drivers side head at this time. Due to budget and time restraints i am doing just the passenger side to fix the miss. I plan to due a performance rebuild at some time so for now i just want it driving again. I did not do a leakdown test, but i did perform a compression test. Dry test yeilded between 180-190 on all 8, but the miss got worse in the next 100 miles. It may have had a slight intake gasket leak as well as i discovered milky oil on one of the the manifold bolts. Plan tomorrow is to finish prepping the mating surfaces, clean up valley really well, install new cylinder head, and reinstall intake manifold with shorted bolts for the belly pan. Hopefully i will have it done by 3 pm so i can fix the a/c before i have to drive it home to watch the kids.
