On my old full-size blazer, The axle seals were in the ends of the axle tubes. They could be changed without totally disassembling the axle. (just mostly....) didn't need to pull the carrier, with all the complications that implies. Even the earlier D44's had 'em there.

 

How much work did this take?

 

 

Time wise it was about 4.5 hours for everything, but I wasn't exactly busting my rear end to get it done. It was pretty hot, so I was taking it easy. I started soaking the shock bolts and flag nuts with Seafoam Deep Creep 3 days prior, but I still had to break out the impact wrench. The driver side front and passenger side rear were the hardest due to limited access.

 

Drove over the Chesapeake Bay and traded the old factory chrome 16s.

 

yanked an old chevy truck full of weight in its bed with flat tires out of a hole it was stuck in.

first tried the tractor as we were moving everything else with the tractor, but the tractor just couldn't get that truck out of the hole, so hooked it to my truck gave it an easy tug and nothing...lost traction, so backed up a bit and threw her in 3rd gear in 4low and dumped the clutch and let her have it and she pulled that thing right out of there

Bought hi-beam flash lights with Raovac batteries for each Ram at Norby's Farm & Fleet ($9.97 ea.). Placed them in the glove boxes. This replaced the old lights w/weak bulbs. K.

edit: Fueled diesel today at $3.73 per gallon and diesel mileage up to 17.4 mpg's (70% interstate/30% city).

 

changed the air filter. Went with a purolator pure one. trying to get baack up to around 14 mpg! Currently rocking 12.5ish-13ish. My old one was pretty dirty

 

Looked at it while shaking my head... need to get some work done on it soon which should be fun! Found out I have a wasp nest in the pass rocker rust hole...

Rust repair, hub bearing and tank straps neednto be done!

Oh and I need to put something other than a glass pack on it for inspection...
