Yesterday I replaced the fan clutch on my 2001 Ram 2500 Cummins with 175K miles.
I bought a Mopar clutch which was way more expensive than the after market ones.
I also had to buy a 1 7/16" combination wrench for $16 from O'riellys.
The install was easy using a long screw driver to hold the bolts while removing the big nut.
The fan and clutch came out without having to remove the shroud.Cleaned off the fan that had 19 years of crude caked on it!

I also replaced the belt with a Gates green.
Changed the fuel filter and air filter.
Serviced the 7 year batteries also.

Now the new problem is the transmission acts funny after installing a Bank's Big Hoss tuner several months ago.
The transmission acts like it goes into neutral at times.
I have to disconnect the Banks unit to see if the problem still occurs.

If removing the tuner doesn't do it, do the basics. Check fluid level/condition, adjust your TV and shift cables, check for any codes, etc. Being a Cummins setup, are you sure it's not the TCC (lockup) hunting? There are known problems with noise on the APPS circuit causing the torque converter lockup to hunt in and out. Relatively easy fix.

My friend had a push guard he had lying around that he was really eager to see how it looked on my truck. I think it looks pretty good. Now I have a couple hooks underneath for playing around in the mud and plucking eachother out as well. I'm figuring long term I'll put a couple light bars on the 2 slots in line with the headlights and maybe a small winch in front of the plate.

Also tossed a bottle of oil in her. She gets thirsty every now and then.

Yeah, service the trans, and don't forget the band adjustment.

They transmission was put in about 2 years ago a new rebuilt. Will check the fluid.
I change the filter about 4 months ago with about four quarts.
The neutral condition does it right of idle not while driving.
Thanks

A while back I gutted my smog pump out to stop the noise, but it started making some new knocking noise. Today I did the belt bypass on it adding a 7 groove pully(gates#38016) to the tensioner (which got repositioned) and a shorter belt(gates#k071005) Seems to be working great so far.
