Worked on firewood a bit more today down by the creek, across the creek was a little deer, didn't seem to care we were there, he stayed around quite a bit...
Anywho, I think it could take around 5 cords of wood to heat this place enough to get through the winter, and at that rate we'd log ourselves out of wood in a few years time.
The majority of the largest trees on the property are Poplar, which burn great and hot when dry, but they don't last real long.
Old Ash tree we might drop tomorrow....

we did that years back at our old house...replaced the wood stoves with pellet stoves and loaded the truck with 2 tons of pellets in the bed (quite literally 2 tons in a 1 ton dually truck)
just stocked up the shed with pellets and would burn about a bag a day in the stove...
just fill up the hopper and the stove does the rest. fills and lights itself, then forced air comes on when the stove is hot enough.
run a heat pump + propane furnace at the current house.

All from 1 tree? Considering a cord is 4x4x8 that's a **** ton of a huge pine tree....

plus i have around 20 trees that ive recently cut down, so ill have close to 6-7 cord when im all said and done. time to buy a splitter!
