WTF?! A REAL Jake brake for a dodge?! I want!!

this is not an exhaust brake...this is an actual engine brake that works off the valves effectively turning the engine into a wheel driven air compressor.

basically the compression and power strokes are turned into "load" strokes... so intake intakes air like normally, valve closes, compression compresses till just about TDC, then the exhaust valve is bumped open by the jake brake to release all that compressed air....then the valve closes which it is supposed to be closed during the power stroke.. so now the power stroke is just a vacuum stroke with valves closed causing an additional drag on the motor. far more effective than exhaust brakes that just choke off exhaust flow to slow the motor.

I cant consider that a real Jake until it has different levels... And by the looks of it he has to hold the switch? I could be mistaken.. Need a better summary on how it was done

in the video it was a prototype to test the theory. its going to be a completely bolt on kit that can be done in a few hours with common tools in your garage.

it is not made by jocobs so not a true "jake" but it is a single stage compression brake. (as in 6-cyl braking) no point in 2 or 3 cyl modes as the cummins in dodges does not have the same kind of compression as a semi, so its not as effective as a semi's but it is still more effective than an exhaust brake.

they recently came up with a new timing controller, and they are apparently still working on it, so its not released for any gen yet, but first gen will be first to release (wombat) and then early 2nd gen, then late 2nd gen, and so on...

I want!!!

It would be cool to have.. Better than the stock exhaust brake they are utilizing now.. A jake coupled with a good brake controller would be an awesome set up for these pickups.. I love the jake on a big rig.. More than useful thats for sure.

could you imagine the looks of confusion on peoples faces when you go by and hit the compression brake...they will all be like WTF? no way..... wheres the semi hiding?! couldn't possibly be that little pickup...

its never been done before and this small group of guys actually did it and patented it. they are working on one for the powerchokes as well. no word on if there are plans for a duracrap yet.

I have always been told it couldnt be done.. Good for them guys though.. They just have some fine tuning to do and they will be millionaires soon enough..
