After all this work - I hope so! Then on to Jag and 54 Chevy and VW and.....

At the parts store a few minutes ago a guy I know is frustrated with a 86 Vette he bought about 5 years ago. Perpertual problem with battery drain overnight......thinking about picking that up. He is so frustrated he is willing to just get rid of it.....and he like the program I run...so....just gotta figure a way to get the wife to think this is a good deal. Maybe tell her I'm thinking about getting it for her.....hmmmmm......

I mucked up today. I noticed that the etching primer did not dry quickly as it did the otehr day. Double checked what I had on the bench - and I mixed the primer with reducer instead of hardner. It is still not all dry. So now - after it dries I have to sand it back off. grrrrr.....and buy another quart of primer.......grrrrr....

Darn cans all look alike....

I wonder if the primer does not dry, can I wash it off with lacquer thinner? Sanding primer that is not dry had GOT to be a gummy mess.

It dried in about 10 to 15 minutes this time. Seems to work MUCH better when you mix the catalyst in it instead of hardener…..live and learn I suppose!

So here it is after etching primer with first coat of 2K high build primer. Will shoot a second coat tomorrow.

This car lot in Marble Falls on the way back form San Antonio caught my eye. My kind of car lot. The 1970 Dart Stinger (with 440) on the right was sold….$16,995.

final blocking some final touch ups and it's go time. nothing better than seeing your work almost complete. a old painter friend of mine use to tell me that at this stage of body work don't rush. all paint is a magnifying glass of your mistakes. it's going to look sweet.

Got the second coat of 2K on today. And you are right about the magnifying glass. The crease on the left fender looked good before, but after primer, the bottom edge of it shows. After letting primer cure, I may try to touch up a little more - and if I cannot get it right, I will be buying a new fender from C2C fabrications and just replace it.

This is true..it is a little challenging....gotta go through a buch of clicks to find the right part. Loads all Ram parts together without much sort capability! Wish they would fix that, but prices and shipping are good, and they ship quickly, so I can deal with that. The rear panels I got and welded on each side of the bed were every bit as heavy as the bedside and fit up very well. You cannot tell it was repaired unless you look at the backside and see the seam. I was happy with that and will use them for my othre restoration projects as well! Theri selection for 1st and 2nd generation parts is competive with any others I have found and better than most http://c2cfabrication.com/.

Spent part of the last couple of days sanding 2K primer. Way too much like work!

I am seeing some orange peel as I sand primer. This is not a big concern at this point as I can sand it our. I will shoot another coar of a Uretane Primer with adhesion promoter on top of 2K when I get it sanded before base coat.

The problem is, I do not kknow what casues this ornage peel, and I need to make sure I do not get this when applying base as it is black metallic (and pretty expensive). I think that heavy sanding to remove orange peel on the metallic paint will ruing it.

Anyone have any insight or experience? Primer was applied with abbient temp about 80 degrees and humidity below 20%.
