Man, I am surprised your boss doesn't fire you for always skipping out of the office to screw around with the truck.

I AM the boss! But I still average about 65 hours a week. Got to go do a "no knock warrant" (kick in the door) last night about 10:00.

Then back to Austin tomorrow night after speaking at a banquet for a meeting at the Capitol.......And with my legislative sucesses the last two sessions, expansion of programs, an 80% increase in services provide to clients, and % closing rate on cases......my Board of Directors are very happy with my work.

My truck (and other projects) are my therapy....

(And I left the office at 3 today......shhhhhhh!)

Decided to start to work on patching two places. One being behind the pass side read door after too much sanding.....and the front edge of the driver door where I did not get the base around the edge.

Prepped, masked, base, and then clear.

Driver door.

Clear applied....the cruddy look is reflection from the stuff piled up on the workbench behind me....took me a few minutes to figure that out....

You're still lucky he doesn't fire you.

I'll see if I can find his. I saw a 2001 all black that looked pretyy sharp in Austin this morning.

While thinking of faded looking plastic on door handles and tail lights, I saw this Mothers Back to Black and decided to try it to see how well it worked. Will buff with a small buffer to see waht it will look like.

Applied to one side to compare. Looks pretty good, but will have to let time tell if it will stay looking good.

After looking very closely at some of the buffing that I did, I decided to resand some of it. There was a very slight orange peel in a couple of places if you looked very closely. I know I do not have to have a “show car” finish, but I still want it as good as I can get it.

Sanding with 2000 grit is very time consuming, but I have learned that the wet/dry sandpaper from Harbor Freight is a lot cheaper, but does not hold up very long, and considering this, is not really cheaper than 3M.

Yeah, you are basically trying to sand with a silk rag.
