Don't know if I can get it painted this weekend. My sister is comeing in from Anchorage (once a year thing) and family reunion. In addition, it is getting time to head to Edinburg for new grandson's approaching arrival!

Thinking of taking the Ram! Mileage sucks(but it looks good!), but seat should be here Friday (hopefully....undamaged.....)

Seat bottom did not arrive - looks like Monday.

Started to spray primer on bumper and comressor decided to go kaput! So now I am on the hunt for a new compressor. And since the garage is wired for 30 amp 120 volt, I am going to run new wire and service as new compressor will need heavier service.

I started to b**ch about compressor - - until I realized that I bought it from Lowe's - in 1994 to build a house. So I guess I got my money's worth out of it! Going with a compressor that will get at least 13cfm at 90 psi, but they start around $1000. With the projects I have, anything less will not be sufficient. So I am expecting to have to spend about $1300 total before I can get much more done on Ram. I have bumper to paint, another coat of clear to put on the hood, and the bed liner to spray.

Upholstery bench and are is nearly set up and ready for the first project - probably the captains seats in my RV. Not like I can afford gas to drive it anywhere, so time is not critical!

Aahhhh...it's always something!

I bought an old Ingersol-Rand industrial air compressor used, back in the early 80's. 5hp, 240 volt single phase. It still runs like a champ. (weighs a friggin TON, and is a right bitch to move.)

I am looking at a new IR at Northern Tool. One is about $1000, but leaning to the $1500 one. Dang I hate spending truck and car money on something like this!

An Air compressor you don't have to wait for makes ALL your work go faster. (of course, it gives you fewer excuses for beer breaks while you wait for the compressor to catch up.......)

we run a 220 volt 12 hp 3 stage air compressor at work it puts out 41 cfm at 120 lbs and its only enough to run 3 of our polishers, and if were running all 3 the compressor has to run constantly to keep up. each polisher takes about 17 cfm though. So about 6 months we went out and bought a kobalt from lowes to run the third one on and its been a great compressor so far. And our compressors work HARD all day.

Waiting on e-mail on used compressor. The Kobalt specs (14psi@90psi) was better than I expected. I wonder about the quality. Comp is cast iron....so this may be an option if the used one doesn't work out.

Good timing. Wife is in Edinburg (far south Texas), and I can get it installed and wired up before she gets back......if I can figure how to get it out of the truck!

Also, I drained the oil out of the compressor before laying it over. Anyone know what kind of oil I need to put back in it?

This stuff. Or something similar for whatever brand your new compressor is.

Found some compressor oil at Tractor Supply. Gonna let it sit up for a couple days before doing anything. Garage is wired 120 volt using 10-2 wire. Have to run some 8-2wg (minimum) from panel in house to garage. And wire is so CHEAP nowadays....

Got it unloaded using come along to header on shed behind garage.

Maybe next weekend I can get it wired in and plumb 1" pipe into garage for drier and header.
