I'd give my left ******** for 17 mpg out of these trucks, therefore I'm calling shenanigans

I see this thread got wayyyyyy off the original posters purpose and probably should've been closed after the OP said he was looking for fuel economy out of his ram truck lol

Your overhead thingy is inaccurate, they all are. Only way to know real mpg's is with good ol' fashioned math.

To drag us (kicking and screaming) back on topic....... To improve gas mileage.....

Make sure ALL sensors are working properly. If your O2 sensors have more than about 80K miles on 'em, replace 'em.

Tune up. (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter.)

Oil Change. (yes, this makes a difference.)

Tire pressures are up to snuff.

All fluids are fresh, and clean.

Wax the truck. (yep, this helps too....)

Make sure the cat isn't clogged, and the plenum don't leak....

Not much else you can do..... these trucks didn't get that great of mileage when they were new. Now, the newest is at least 10 years old..... gas mileage doesn't get better as they get older......

I am feeling generous so you can keep your *********, instead you can name your first child after me.
Today I ran out of gas 17 miles away from home with no wallet. I was able to get 1gallon of gas from roadside assistance. I drove 17 miles about 40% city miles in my dodge ram to get to my wallet at home. No math is needed, 1 gallon = 17+ miles in my dodge ram.

This is with little modification, the thing I that helps my truck the most is the 5spd. In the future I will be adding a electric rad. fan in the pursuit of more power and gas millage.

Thanks for your time folks.
Not to mention additional wear and tear....

I would have followed instructions...Oh, wait. I did, and it is still holding!

If it could be done for 30+mpg, we would have all done it a long time ago.

I did not know whether to laugh or cry. Someone please let me know how it ends....
