We get some AWESOME lightning shows here being at 9,000ft and all, I have a nice view of the continental divide out my back porch. It can sometime feel surreal watching the storms build and then dump over into the Denver area
Ooooo, I LOVE a good light show. Pretty flat here though.

I have been up in the rockys, and watched storms spill over though. That was farking AWESOME, until I realized I was 5 miles from the van, and the storm was going to get to me, before I got to the van..... Yes, I got VERY wet.

That reminds me.... Several years ago a few friends and I were having some summer fun up on the divide at a glacier. Within 10 minutes a huge thunder storm rolled in on us out of what seemed like nowhere. We were actualy in a small valley at roughly 11,500 feet. The mountain we were near blocked or visual of the thunder head approaching.

The car was parked up about 20 min away on a ridge. We were forced to take shelter between some boulders under a tarp we had with us and wait out the lightning for about 45 minutes. really scarry being that high up in the middle of a thunderstorm like that. we were deffinatly soaked, freezing, and felt like a bunch of dummies.

When I was young and we would go visit my grandma she had a green house in her back yard. By the time of the year we would get there to visit most of her bedding plants were out in the garden so there was plenty of empty space on the benches for me to lay down and look up.

I used to love being out there when a thunder storm would roll in. I really liked watching the lightning.

Sometimes the flashes were so bright you couldn't see much for a little while after looking at them. It was very interesting to watch the chain lightening when it would go off. When my mom found out I was out in the house with the glass roof during the storms she went ballistic and told me never to do it again but I did anyway.

The glass never did break while I was in there and we got some pretty good size hail and strong wind a few times. I suppose I was lucky when there were tornado warnings out and I would be laying out there watching the storm. A tornado could have taken the whole green house to Oz or tossed a whole tree, car, boat, horse, or house on top of the green house, but like I said nothing bad like that happened.

Once while I was driving semi I stopped at an unimproved wayside outside of Kansas City Missouri. The wayside was on a fairly high hill and you could pretty well look down into and over the city.

The sun was just setting as I rolled in and parked I had just over 30 hours of driving and really needed to sleep a while {this was before the electronic log books and GPS tracking things really started being used so much. I just had a paper log and it was mostly lies}

As I lay in my bunk I could hear thunder so I opened the curtain and watched as the clouds rolled in and the storm set in. It was awesome to see the sun still out on one side of the city and the other side being eaten by the large black clouds and the waning sun shining on top of the clouds.

As the storm set in in earnest the sun finally set but you could still see the top of the clouds and there were ***** of lightening rolling around on top. They were very bright I wished I had a movie camera to take some footage with. I did have my Instamatic and took some still shots with that. I looked for the pictures when I started typing this and can not find them. If I do Iwill try to scan them and post them.

I often heard of the log books referred to as comic books. Mine always had so much sleeper berth time it looked like I had some kind of sleeping sickness. Only way a guy could make a living.

Something odd happened to me the other day coming in on a trip. A storm was brewing over our little mountains and I pulled off beside a church to maybe get a lightning photo.While I was aiming the lens back over the mountain one cracked off over head in the clear sky (it gave a
back flash in the windshield). Needless to say, I couldn't get back in the truck quick enough (storms are killers this year, we've had hail twice
already. K.

far from it. remains of the PO were found at the back of the house, and the shooter was found in the area of the garage...

the old man(owner of the house) is alive and well!
