The Official 2014 2nd Gen RAM Forum OT thread
Well,... that's one way to do it I guess. When I carried a gun and a badge I always worried that something like that would happen. Fortunately it never did.
I was told not to get involved in high speed chases, especially in residential areas, just to follow long enough to get the license plate and description of the offender if Icould.
There isn't a car made that can out run a two way radio.
The perpetrator may get away for awhile but eventually they almost always get caught. If not by the officer in pursuit well, there are lots of other officers around. The fellow who owns that truck will probably get a ticket for impeding an on going police action. The driver of the car the cops were chasing probably doesn't have any insurance or drivers license, the driver of the truck will probably have to stand the repair on his own unless he has a really good, understanding insurance man/company.
A lot of states don't care for vigilantes much at all. Sometimes its hard enough to get yer car fixed if someone runs into it and you were not driving in such situations.

The reasoning behind the guy with the ram is that the car had already driven through a public park once with a lot of kids in it and barely missed some, he only hit the guy when he started coming back around to go through the park again (where his own kids were playing). Also the driver of the car was a 14 year old kid that had stolen his grandfathers car.

Hopefully grand dad has good insurance then. Or the kids folks can afford it all.
I can see why the driver of the Dodge did what he did but still think he is in for a world of hurt fromthis all. Does anyone know what town or maybe the state this happened?
The kid is in for a pretty rude awakening too. Being a minor he might get a nasty slap on the wrist but depending on the state he lives in it could be more.
I really wonder if anyone was seriously hurt in this deal.
Last summer down in the quad cities some kids decided to take their dads car for a joy ride. The dad called the cops. The kids went north to Clinton and picked up some more friends then the cops came upon them so naturally the kids tried to run away.
They went through several yards and finally got to the highway and made it across the river. More cops joined in. The car the kids were driving only made a top speed of around 70 mph so it was a pretty slow high speed chase. The cops stayed on them all the way up the river to my town where they took a wrong turn and ended up being boxed in in a residential area where they gave up.
The cops were on them right away and it was like a scene from a movie with a dozen guns drawn, making them show their hands, and crawl out of the car and get on the ground. None of them were very old I'm pretty sure the oldest was under 18.
There were also several folks with cameras but I have not seen any of the footage.
They got charged with grand theft auto, fleeing to elude, excessive speed and a long list of other things. Two of them were old enough to be charged as adults. In their flight they ran several cars off the road. The trial was moved from the quad cities to somewhere here in Illinois but hasn't happened yet. I'm pretty sure the kids were released to their parents custody. The one that was actually driving was only 14.
No one was hurt in that one.
