I bough a jet 180 stat and the temp gauge is reading 200. Had a replacement sent and decided to boil it first. It opens some at 180. Just enough to see light on the other side through the crack. And full open at 195ish. Now maybe I'm wrong but that sure doesn't seem right to me? Anyone have any issues with these before? Should I forget my 10$ and buy a different brand stat?
Ok. So kinda curious how the dodges regulate temperature. Is there a block off somewhere in the motor that forces water into the radiator? And just did a boil test on the jet stat and start superstat... Jet at 180 is shut. Stant at 180 is cracked open about 1/32 inch. Seems better to me. Supposedly according to Google. Stats are supposed to start opening 4 degrees before the temp and full open 10-15 above temp. Jet is full open at 200 while stant is full open at 195
Well I understood that. I just figured shouldn't there be something that kinda blocks the water from bypassing the radiator? I'm not very knowledgable on cooling systems.
Coolant is always circulating in the engine, thermostat opening up gives it someplace else to go, and it does. (flow will always take the path of least resistance, not to mention the pump sucking fluid out of the radiator, needs to be replaced by fluid from the engine.)
