Tell Slomojo to knock off the old ring gear before he sends it. No point paying the extra shipping for a part you can't use. Send the ring gear bolts though.

I think you are right Rabbler. If it's in good shape, and if I don't do the retarded peelouts, it should last forever. Hopefully Slomojo is still up for sending it my way though. I always wondered why my truck did so well in the snow in 2wd, makes sense. I didn't even know I had a limited slip until the transmission shop told me. I'm telling you, I'm learning more and more everyday. My friend who came over was such a nice guy for coming over and popping that out with me. When he puts it back he's going to teach me so I know how to do it myself. I bought them a couple packs of cigarettes for today, and when we put it in I told him I'd pay him $100. I know I could do just a pizza, but in reality, he is saving me thousands of dollars getting my truck out of these ****ing shops.

lol sure did. oil was everywhere and all the parts were covered, but the smell was great. It was just fun doing it in my own garage and not have to be talking to some ****ing mechanic with my baby on his god damn lift and my nuts in his vice.

Some may disagree with me, but I replaced my factory bolts with grade 8 bolts. Something to consider.

So what are the bolts for exactly? And are they a generic bolt I can get at a hardware store, or special order?

Lol if I was going to do a LSD I'd pay the extra $300 and do it right and get a Auburn. I don't know that your peelouts and what not will save that. Look on PS. Most everyone with one has had the same problem with the clips breaking. If Rabbler is one of the lucky few that hasn't thats good for him but it seems like quite a few people have problems. Why pay him $100 to put it in then have to pay him another $100 in 6 months to replace it again? You might get lucky and have it last for the life of the truck or you may be like most people that have them break in 20-100k miles and you don't know how many this one has on it already. It could have 99k on it already.

No doubt a LSD is better but for you that doesn't go offroad or really do anything in the truck other than cruise around LSD isn't really needed. It might would be nice in the winter and help some though. An open carrier would probably hold up a ton better to the abuse you want to throw at it too. If you really use your truck in the winter I'd go for the LSD but if it's mostly just cruising around and you don't want to worry about it again I'd go with the open carrier.

To hold the cover on the rear. Sometimes its hard to find grade 8 bolts cheep at hardware stores. Fortunately I have a tractor supply co. down the road that sells bolts by the lb. rather than per bolt.
