Headed in the right direction
What's so heavy duty about that transmission? A shift kit is usually what makes it shift hard which was not installed in his transmission so there is no reason I see that it should shift hard. They got that fixed now it shifts funny. Should it shift like that? NO. APS manages to build a high performance transmission that I wouldn't be surprised if preforms better on the track that that one as you don't have to let off the gas for it to shift plus it doesn't do all those funny things his does.
What's performance in having to let off the gas to shift? That is not normal be it a performance transmission, car transmission, or truck transmission. You should in no way shape or form have to lift off the gas for it to shift.
You guys keep saying oh it's just a high performance transmission but it's funny a bunch of other companies manage to build high performance transmissions which judging by his parts list are even more high performance than his and yet they don't have all these issues.

Me? No. Now I'm that much more careful these days. He falsely avertised his product. I told him that I wanted a transmission that could handle the 35" tires easily and be able to withstand racing here and there. So he said he would build me a transmission with heavier parts that wouldn't get aten up lugging around the big tires. Turns out I had to get rid of my beautifully lifted truck because these ******** started using that as an excuse of why it wasn't shifting smooth. Now all these months later, after I took the initiative and took my truck back down to stock and bought new tires and shocks, the truck still remains to shift choppy. I knew that if I wanted to get this unit taken care of, I'd need to leave no room for people to speculate that the lift and tires were causing issues. Even though the main purpose it was so expensive to begin with was because I wanted to keep my lift and tires. They've already depleted the look of my truck, and now it still is a mediocre transmission with 285 tires, I'm furious.
nah they didnt deplete the look of your truck... you did. shouldnt have taken the lift and tires off to appease a non working transmission/transmission shop.
it aint about the trans power to roll the tires, its about the diff gear is goin through. yours are 4.10 right? 3.55?
either way... learn from this. sorry to see this happen

Chris, although I did remove the tires and lift, realistically, those tires being that big weren't going to bow well with me if I did take them to court. Now I can go to a lawyer and claim the truck is completely stock. It has 4.10 gearing. I wasn't going to mess around and let ANYBODY tell me it was the lift and tires causing the problems. The stock transmission didn't have an issue, and nor should of the new one. Besides, that lift I had was faulty. I figure once I get all of this transmission bullcrap out of the way, maybe in a couple of years when my pirellis are wearing, I will save up and do the lift right. I do miss the look of my truck. And although it's still very big and most people don't even notice **** like that, it defiantly bugs me deep down. For now though, I have a stock drivetrain and tires and nobody can use any excuses towards me, period.
Today my father and I met with the lawyer this afternoon. I brought documents of the transmission purchase and warranty, along with the build sheet. I also brought the papers of where I originally bought the truck. We spent an hour and a half taking the lawyer step by step through all the stages of what I've dealt with. I explained to him that the transmission cost so much was because it was designed for the big tires and lift. I further explained they tried using it as leverage as to why it was shifting choppy. So I told him how we removed the lift and big tires and brought the truck back down to stock to really send home it was the unit and not the tires.
Basically the lawyer believes we have a very strong case. I've clearly given them more than ample time to fix the transmission, and it's still not fixed. I've had it assessed by two separate transmission shops and both said it was in fact shifting rough. The lawyer believes the bill he most recently gave me was too scare me off, as most of us speculated. We are basically going to ask for them to refund all of our money along with the inconvenience it's caused us. We will also leave the option for them to swap the unit out, but we're mostly hoping for a refund.
The lawyer asked me to fax him the quotes I spent for having the lift removed and the new tires and shocks replaced. I tracked down both shops that did those two jobs, and faxed the prices to his office. It was over $1,500 for the 285 tires, lift removal, and stock shocks. So he would like to go after that as well. He's also going after money for the core of the old transmission too. I also managed to find the smuck who sold me the truck in July of 2007. He happened to just reopen up last month down where I work 25 miles from home. The lawyer may exercise chasing him down as well he says.
Ultimately we've decided we are going to try and get our refund. I've called the Dodge dealership and been quoted for a new transmission straight from the dealer. It will be $2,200 with the old transmission. Transmission would come with a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty, which way exceeds my current warranty. We're done messing around with shady Maine shops. If we go through the dealer, and more so, Chrysler, it would be much easier to go after them if anything goes wrong. I know some of you may think getting a stock unit is a bad idea, but what I've dealt with, the lawyer and my father thinks it's the smarter way to go through a dealership and have their unit put in. Comes with a giant warranty, and there is no guessing what we're going to get. I have the deep dish transmission pan and larger cooler now, and I'm just going to keep it easy and enjoy my truck if we get our refund. I know it's a lot here, but wanted to fill you guys in with what's going on.

Sounds good man. Not sure the stock unit is the way I'd go but at the same time you do get a good warranty and deal with a large company not some shady local place. It may be the best way for you to go if you want to drive it easy. However if you want to tow a ton behind it or race it and drive it hard it probably isn't the best way to go and the warranty may not cover that.
In all honesty though it may be the best route for the money if you want to start driving it carefully and not beat on it. This whole deal you've dealt with now has just been a huge mess. Glad to hear things may be getting taken care of. How much is the lawyer costing you for all this here?

The lawyer cost $600. I split the cost with my dad. For $600 he took down all of the information and is going to write them a letter for next week. He's also going to try and track down New England Transmission's lawyer first so he doesn't have to deal directly with Mark. Then we're going to see how they respond, and then evaluate from there if we are going to spend more money for further action. We're hoping the professional letter will show them we mean business and either a.) get rid of me and give me all of my money back plus our inconvenience and the core, or swap the unit. Really though, we feel like they'll want to get rid of me so they don't look bad.
You're going to get a stock unit, like the one that crapped out on you in the first place? Honestly dude, you went through all this crap just to get a stock transmission put back in?
You went against our advice and went with a local shop because they had a "nice warranty" and your dad, friends, whatever, thought it was a good idea. Now here we are, after you admitted you should get an APS or Dr. Evil, and you have once again ignored our advice and decided to go with something else, because they have a "nice warranty" and you, or dad, the lawyer, whatever, thinks its a good idea.
Sure, Chrysler obviously isn't as shady as that wanna-be transmission shop, but what started all these problems in the first place? A stock Chrysler transmission!
Take the $2200 or whatever it would cost for a new stock tranny, throw it together with whatever you get from them compensating you for the lift removal and new tires, and buy an APS or Dr. Evil.
For all that trouble, pain, and suffering, you should get something that is BETTER than stock, for **** sake.
