On second thought he might not like the APS transmission. It does shift a little hard into first gear if you are on the gas but on it easily. It's normal and the shift kit but honestly he may not like that as it doesn't shift like the stock unit. Better imo but not like the stock one.

I don't mind a hard shift, just as long as it's supposed to be doing that, ya know? I knew with my transmission that something seemed wrong about it. It was more clunking out of first gear. And skipping into overdrive. I wanted a performance unit. A transmission that shifted very firm at full throttle. I knew it wouldn't have smooth shifts like stock, but it'd still be a relatively enjoyable ride casually. My transmission constantly has issues with shifting at the right times. The shift points always seem off. Either too early or way too late. It never just shifts through the gears naturally. I always have to make some improvision to make it shift. Sometimes it shifts nicely through first and second, other times it shifts late out of one of the gears. Sometimes it gets confused and will just sit in third gear and won't go into lockup, then finally I'll let off around 42ish and it will go into lockup. Then overdrive doesn't kick in till 52mph, which is about useless for me around town. Most of the time I'm going 45 tops around the city, so my engine never gets to relax in overdrive. Before they fixed the tps sensors, it was going into overdrive at 45mph. Now it's at 52mph before it will finally get into overdrive. Just one thing after another. Tonight I opened the truck up from a stand still. It did this thing where it wouldn't really move until it hit about 3500 rpms and then all of a sudden the power of the truck finally kicked in. Then it wouldn;t shift out of 2nd gear and I just had to let off before it went to 5200 rpms.

Does Chrysler offer any kind of a performance transmission that I could have done through the dealership. If I don't go with APS, I'm going through the dealership. I'm not putting my money towards another Maine transmission shop. If I do go through the dealer, I'm not crazy about having a stock unit, but if it's all they have to offer I'll go with it.

You could ask them to rebuild it with HD clutches and bands and a HD Torque Converter.

Also, I'd ask them what's available to beef up the OD unit. I'm sure they'll charge you top $$$ for all of it, though.

It's worth asking. I really do want an APS, but I'm highly dubious of having to find someone to install a transmission for me. I also don't know if I'm even going to recover the cost of my old transmission. Lastly, if something does go wrong with the APS, I live in Maine, and they are in California. I don't really know what the protocal is if something needs attention. I will defiantly call the dealer tomorrow and ask what they have to offer.

Now here's my next inquiry. Do you guys think New England Transmission will try to offer swapping my unit. Wouldn't they loose a lot more money refunding me my money? I'm not crazy about the idea of them offering swapping the unit either though. Even if they do offer to swap the unit out and everything goes smoothly, I'll have to deal with Mark still which will suck. Who knows how they are going to respond though. The lawyer is sending them out the letter this week. He says he thinks they'll offer to swap it or refund money, but he says you never know though how some people will respond. If they do respond, they'll for sure be spending at least $4,000 to defend themselves, which is the cost of my unit alone. So to me, I'm hoping they'll just get rid of me and refund my money plus the money I had to spent to remove my liftkit and tires.

I can't tell what he cut off but there is a whole missing column, most likely the prices of each part...Your input on this buildsheet and this situation would be incredibly appreciated, and I thank all of you for your help.
LMAO! Thats his "HD' unit? He reused all of the old clutch drum rubber, probably didnt even take them apart, reused the old seals. I dont see any mention of gov pressure solenoids or sensor, those are a MUST! He also reused the old o/d and lockup solenoids! HA! He stock that PLASTIC accumulator piston back in.

Half the stuff on that list looks like parts he installed after you were having problems to try and "fix" it! To me it looks like he threw in a few bushings, new clutches, a couple new bands, a new TQ, a reman VB (because he was too incompetent to take the old one apart and fix it properly) and let it ride. What an idiot! I can tell by the "build sheet" that your transmission is JUNK. I wouldnt trust it as far as i could throw it, a stock Chrysler trans would be a HUGE upgrade.

Even when i build a 300 dollar job with no warranty i still use new paper and rubber.

BTW what part of Maine do you live? I have family up in Standish and Rumford.

I'm very happy you responded to my thread Monte, thank you. I knew something was fishy with this transmission. It has just never seemed right. And from how you describe it, it makes sense. It has heavy duty parts mixed in with old stock parts, of course it's not going to ever function properly if it doesn't have matching pieces. So do you believe I am fully justified in hiring a lawyer and going after this guy?

I'm from the Portland area. My ex g/f was from the Standish area.

Is there even anything heavy duty in there? If so not a lot. Doesn't even have a shift kit which is about where heavy duty/ performance starts.
