Never had any takeoff issues since I deleted ,,, In fact, I'm trying to get myself out of the habit of gearing up and going as soon as I start, thinking I should at least allow a few seconds for the lube process to begin.

You should always wait a few seconds for the lube process to begin...

does anyone else have this issue?
After I added my external cooler and removed the check valve I have to run it in neutral just like you for a few seconds and then go.

The check valve kept the line full of fluid and partial pressure so you can start up the truck and go. I personally don't think its a good idea to to jump in the truck and take off right away in the morning anyways.

what made me think to drop it in neutral is that the 46re doesn't pump tranny fluid in park. i've always waited about 15-30 seconds before taking off anyway so dropping it in neutral isn't a problem.

I wonder how it can be explained that some like me can take off as soon as it starts if they wish, and others can't ?

Don't see how that is possible, I replaced the section with the check valve as per DIY details on page 1.

i meant the lines could be crossed on my tranny cooler, my tranny rebuilder installed it and he overlooked a couple things so i wouldn't be surprised if he crossed the lines.

So i did the check valve delete and filter install this weekend. The bottom fitting transmission line fitting on the radiator broke off when I took off the old line, (Yes i used the qd tool). It had worn away along the edge where the old quick disconnect sat. I am looking to see if anyone has a part number or source for it bedsides a junkyard. Napa and shucks couldnt find it. I circled the part below. Sorry Aim4squirrels for stealing your pic.
