High performance water pump you might want to think about putting a new timing chain on that they have half of the stuff they need to get to it?

I agree. I buy my parts from napa and haven't had an issue although they sometimes do cost a little more.

I payed someone to do mine as it was already in the shop. They were trying to figure out why no heat and he thought that was why as he said it wasn't pumping like it should. Turned out not to be the problem but I didn't want to mess with it at the time. If he has free time a diy job might not be bad but if not I don't think paying someone for something like this is horrible.

IDK, I payed $120 to change my water pump. I guess he is used to getting raped out his *** for something he could eaisly do in 4 hours and save $200. That sounds like a good deal then.

Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but I don't get it. Your leak was coming out the rear of the engine. It was dripping off your inspection plate but it's the water pump that's the problem? How is it that a leak from the front would manifest itself in the back of the engine? Nine times out of ten the leak comes out of the weep hole straight to the ground.

Hmm that's a very good point I didn't think of. I wonder if this water pump is going to actually fix your issues.

I thought of that too. I can't think of a way it could get back there from the WP. Hopefully it does end up being that simple, though. Water pumps are easy to replace on these trucks.

So your telling me that "gravity" makes it drip towards the back when it's parked? It travels down the front of the oil pan then up the back of the oil pan to the inspection plate? Maybe on the moon, but not on earth. He's getting hustled. 01DODGERAM, move the water pump pulley and see if it moves to make sure it's really a bad water pump. It could be that you need a new pump, I'm not saying you don't, but that's not causing the rear drip coolant. It's gonna be either a freeze plug or the rear end seal on the intake. My truck has that SAME LEAK and I have a new water pump installed on it. Get a second opinion.
