No, you don't wanna do that. The t/c needs to line up with the dogs on the pump, so that it seats back all the way. If you use the bellhousing bolts to force it, you might jam something up, or, worse yet, break something.... that would make you unhappy. Just drop the trans all the way down again, and reseat the t/c.

You got it...I've gotten this far, no sense in hacking it to hell by jamming gears together. It was seated fully, but once I started aligning it and moving it closer, it slid forward and must had slid far enough that it is misaligned now and won't seat again. Just wait till I show you guys how I'm getting this thing on the jack from under the truck. You'll laugh.

also make sure crank sensor wires are out of the way so they dont get pinched
between bellhousing and engine. ask me how i know this can happen.

Bet it's the same way I'll have to do it. Not enought clearance to put on jack first then shove under truck. Don't know how much this thing weighs, but it is almost too much for an old guy like me!

I used a C clamp to hold TC in place so it doesn't move out of position when i have to try to get it on jack.

LOLOL. I usually put 'em on the jack first, and then install the t/c.

I have in the past, but fighting pulled hamstring and not enough room, so opted to try this way. Only hope it works out. It will make front of transmission heavier to wrestle up onto the jack.

Completely bolted on front. Just had to lower the jack and wiggle the T/C on the rest of the way. Got the bell housing bolts in. Trying to reinstall the rear support cross member and the damn frame must be squatting. I just can't seem to get this crossmember in.

Mine was very tight when I started to remove it, so I just forced it back to rear of truck enough to get transmission out. I was afraid if I took it out I would not be able to get it back in. It is like the frame rails are curved inward at the transmission mount. I measured frame to see if it was bent and saw no indication of that.

May have to out a jack between frame rails and spread slightly.

Are you askign about how far to pull the transmission back from engin? If so, about 1 1/2" it should be clear. If you are talking about the rear transmission mount, I shoved it back about 6". The rear of transmission wasn't clear of it, but as I lowered transmission I tilted front down (with TC clamped in) and rolled jack forward at the same time.
