You can use a large enough socket. If anything, you'd want a press for the ujoints them selves. But it's not needed for those either.

Could you please add the info to your sig as to whether or not your truck is a 1500 or 2500 ? As far as the kit on Quad4x4 goes in that link is for a 2500, my bad, didn't notice that. I'd call and talk to Dan. Because I know just the parts are available.

Well I played hell trying to press my ujoints out with my hydraulic press, so thats why I resorted to beating the **** out of them with a sledge and an old socket. Well we all see where thats gotten me. The clips holding the bearing caps in place broke...every one of them. Anyways, I didn't know it would be so difficult pressing them out with a hydraulic press...apparently an arbor press is the way to go on those. Everytime I'd put the shaft in the press, it would just kink it and make it feel like its binding instead of pressing. Are you supposed to remove em in a certain order?

IIRC, There is an order that makes it easier, but not sure. I can check tomorrow, if you don't get it em apart by then. Also, try tapping the ears while you have pressure on the caps.

Shafts are headed to the driveline shop tomorrow. I can't believe that Quad place actually charges you like $10.00 more for your order if you want the directions...thats kinda funny. I wonder how many "color manuals" they sell. Probably quite a few. Anyways, hoping to get it back on the road this weeked.

Can someone please tell me what this part of my front drive shaft is? And why it's not referenced in the manual anywhere that I can find...
And more importantly, can it be repaired? I think we may have been talking about two different things. This isn't a center support bearing.

Because the driveline shop I know about said when I called that I was looking at around $300.00 for all new spicers and rebuilding this part pictured above. I think $300 is way steep. Especially because everythings already taken apart. I think he was referring to the center support bearings most 2 piece shafts have...I just dont want to look like an idiot going in asking him to rebuild this part if it's not salvageable.

It's the front driveshaft, the end closer or closest to the booted splines. I can't remember if its the end closer to the front diff. or the transfer case at the moment. Its like a peg sticking out of the shaft, and a ball with a hole and a spring on the flanged end. I didn't take pics for the driveline, of course...just index marks.
