at one time, there was a thread from a member that was getting ready to do the plenum repair.... and he collected a pretty complete list of things he wanted to do, parts he would need, etc. He was also doing water pump, and timing chain. I can't come up with the thread just off-hand here..... but, that would be a good one to peruse.

I agree with doing the timing set as well. I think that one repair did more to perk up my truck than anything else. The difference was really amazing. I got the SA double roller set from advance auto for about 50 bucks. Nice quality piece.

Just doing the water pump at this point pretty much assures that in the not-so-distant future, you are going to have to reseal the front timing cover.... so, while you are RIGHT THERE anyway, pull that feller off, it's only a few more bolts.... reseal it, and replace timing set. You won't regret the exercise.

Ok so i just left advance and they have everything in stock except for the double roller timing set. The guy i talked to suggested that i go with just a stock replacement because it would do fine for what i use my truck for. What is everyones opinion here, double roller or stock replacement and why.

go stock if you dont think you will have it for 40 k more miles. the stock chain wears out pretty easily

The morse style chains (stock type) are rather prone to stretching, and quite frankly, I just don't like 'em. Not like you want to do this tomorrow anyway right? They should be able to get one in a day or three. Go with the part you want, not just one "that'll work"....
