for heavier deposits, spray with brake cleaner AND wipe/scrub with paper towel. you'll go through a lot of paper towels, but its cheap and effective. the half sheet towels work best because they're smaller and you throw them away after about 4 good wipe/turn/wipe cycles. walmart brake cleaner is the cheapest and strongest, but also is the worst about burning your skin, so be very careful with it and do NOT get it in your eye or you'll be screaming like a baby. you can imagine how i know this.

Well stopped by the dealer today and picked up the new part, crazy thing doesn't look anything like the old one, granted all I can see from the outside of the tranny is the little plastic piece on the outside, but that doesn't even look the same.....

Didn't come with any new screw's or anything. We'll see tomorrow we we drop the pan again....

I'm confident the leak is coming from the TCC/OD Solenoid Assembly but I'm TIRED of fixing the wrong part, so will be checking to be double sure.
$128.00...ouch!! you can get the whole heavy duty soleniod upgrade package for 130.00 online including the governor pressure soleniod and sensor which fail more often and cause delayed shifting issues.... Just the oem TCC soleniods are $54 with free shipping online.... that means the dealer has over %100 markup..

I'm a little annoyed and confused.

I can't for the life of me get the truck to leak transmission fluid now. I drove it to town and put some gasoclean in her, drove her over to the brother in law's and drank a couple of beers, never once did it leak so much as a drop.

I've got the part in hand and ready to fix it tomorrow but I'm wondering is there any chance I simply overfilled it or if it's just leaked all the fluid it's gonna leak. I'll get her running at normal temp tomorrow and check the fluid level, see where it's at.

Last weekend I dropped the pan and replaced the filter and gasket and refilled with 7qt's of fluid. It leaked Monday and now it won't leak period. Crazy....

I don't mind spending money on it when it's something I want or it really needs but $130 for a OD Assembly that may not be truly defective is stupid

That being said I've got 2 cans of brake cleaner, going to clean it up, run it around town and see if I get spot any leaks, I'd hate to do all that work for a part that's not really bad... Is this wanna those your damned if you do and damned if you don't deals?

So long as you have the part in your possession, it won't leak. AS SOON as you return it, it will start leaking again.

On a side note, I noticed in the shop that some poor sap took his 2nd Gen 5.9L Diesel to have a new dashboard put in, looked good, but you know he or she is gonna get reamed on the labor bill...

Well guys, replaced the solenoid assembly today, found out why it was leaking:

I'm completely confused as to where the O rings went, I've had the pan off 3 times since I've had it, never once found O rings in the pan and they can't escape out the top......

Crazy.....
