Yep it is one big suckaa. I don't know of any transfer case that is larger for light duty (under 1 1/2ton) trucks. I have some pictures of it opened up I'll post them later.

Well I'm back to working on the new engine again but now it is a 408 instead of a 360. I went over on Wednesday and swapped engines with Derick C. from the forum. He had decided to return his truck to a 360 and traded me his 408 stroker. He had about 8,000 miles on the rebuilt engine.
So here it is mounted on the engine stand.

One of the reasons Magnum engines are great engines to stroke is because there is little to no clearance work that needs to be done to the block. Now try that with a Chebby or Ford.

And since I was starting over again I decided to add a few goodies to the engine. I went with some ARP bling and I also got a tuner with the engine trade.

For an engine that only has 8,000 miles on it there is a lot of carbon build up so I can guess why he was only getting 8 MPG. The tune had had was making him run way too rich.

So I have been cleaning the top of all the pistons with my angle grinder & scotch brite pads.

So that is 4 out of 8 cleaned so far. Going to head out and do the other 4 in a few. Then I'll wipe the engine down, blow it off with compressed air and then tape it off and get it ready for paint. I am going to paint the block orange again just like the other block.

Your jeep is gonna be seriously badas

I think alot of that carbon was from oil. The plenum was leaking again.

Depending on the engine you have to clearance the side of the block so that the rod nuts do not hit due to the stroker crank.

Yep you're right I forgot you had said that. Well I got them all cleaned up now all nice and pretty. Plus I found out just how bad I need to get a water separator for my compressor. In this heat it is making gallons of water.

So tomorrow I am going to get the engine taped up and ready to paint. Then Monday I'll run into town and get some more Hemi Orange paint to make this block all nice and pretty.

Then once it is painted and dried I can start putting it back together. Then maybe just maybe I'll actually install the engine into the Jeep.

Nice find Wildman. Did W-5 cylinder heads come with that 408 short block or are you going to run the Odessa heads with it?
