Nest was to install the HIGH SPEED LOW DRAG ARP oil pan stud kit. Back when I bought these some people had asked about them so here is the part number and I like how they work. Makes it a lot easier to get the oil pan gasket on without it sliding around on you.

Here are the studs and nuts.

So here are studs installed into the block.

And the 8 quart oil pan on.

And the nuts & studs.

So I am to the point where I can get it setup to check the push rod length and then get them ordered. The engine is looking pretty good.

I just hope I have enough room for the deep oil pan in my Jeep.

I think the timing cover looks really good against the orange paint of the block.

This is an aftermarket harmonic balancer. I'll have to get the brand name tomorrow.

I think they are for running a external oil pump? But not 100% sure. There is one on each side of the pan. I am just going to plug them off.

There is one on each side up from like that. That was why I always thought they must have put them on for something.

Does anyone have a preference in which brand of pushrods you use? I know I need .080 thick walled oil thru pushrods but just curious if there was a brand better than others?

Trick Flow
Comp Cams
Manley
Crower

I worked on figuring out my pushrod length today. Damn I hate getting old. Spent almost 2 hours trying to figure out where I'd put the adjustable pushrods and couldn't find them. So I finally figured out what I had done with them and was able to get to this task.

So I removed the valve springs and installed the testing springs. Then I marked the tip of the valve stem with a dry erase marker.

Then I installed the rocker arms for the #1 cylinder and adjusted the pushrod to 0 lash. Then I rotated the engine over 3 times before I took the rocker arms back off to check the pattern.

This gets me to a 6.8130" I still need to add .020 for the preload on the hyd lifters which then gives me a 6.8330 length. They make pushrods in 0.050" lengths so for this I'd want to go to a 6.850" length pushrod. I'm going to check it again tomorrow just to double check everything since this isn't something I do all the time.

Interestingly the stock pushrod length is 6.925"
