The verdict is bent valves boss. You was right. If y'all wanna see a grown man cry come on over to my house. Looks like I'm off to the machine shop again. What valves do you recommend? OEM stock replacement valves?

All the intake valves hit the pistons and are slightly bent. Pistons all have a slight finger nail size spot on them. Not deep thankfully.

Sometimes it sucks to be right. Check out your lifters while you are in there, as for valves just stock or Mopar performance valves. I am sure others will have some suggestions as well.

Edit: At least they were not big buck fancy aluminium heads. But might be a good time for some.

Well I can't be mad. It's my own fault, but this is my first mopar engine I've had to tear into. I've only built sbf's in the past and a lot of dsm turbo 2.0's. I appreciate all your help though. When inspecting my lifters what should I be looking for as far as damage goes?

Check all the rollers on the end for binding or flat spots, do a bench test using a screwdriver to check the plunger and the spring, should go in ez and come back up ez. FSM sec 9 page 115 gives you a brake down on the lifter.

Sometimes the Mopar performance parts are cheaper than the Mopar stock replacement parts. They can be ordered though your dealer or online.

I have a service manual, but the sections and pages don't match what you're saying. I will definitely check the lifters and try to find in my service manual about how to inspect and test the lifters. Oh and I have the intake bolts from Hughes. Since they are brand new and the engine hasnt been ran yet do they need to be replaced?

I have these in my truck and they get good reviews from others. I did have to have a valve job done on my clearwater heads for them.

Re use them.

If you are going to buy valves anyway... make sure to get one piece valves.
