Ok gents I think I'm just going to get this kit. It's a great price and with the new baby and all life's little expenses, I need to conserve what money I can. I am going to get the SS valves though. Here is the kit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SLP-KC-1568/

I don't know, my machinist said the valves measured up right and he seemed to think the seats were cut a little small in the clearwaters. Either way it's probably not the best idea to drop new valves into used heads without a valve job so they seat properly.

I'm surprised it damaged the cam, you'd think the hydraulic lifters would absorb that.

Well these heads are freshly built with a 3 angle valve job. I'm sure they will work though. *fingers crossed because I just bought them lol*

Edit: I don't think the cam was damaged from this incident. I looks like the grooves and scoring on the few lobes I seen was done over time. Probably from a couple bad rollers or a bad bearing in the roller. Hard to tell, but I definitely need a new cam.

If you are going to spend that kind of money, don't just put another stock cam in there...... You have an opportunity here, get something that is going to improve performance, prices will be very similar.

Well I could always just go back to my 1.6 rockers and do the R/T cam. I set my cam timing back to 0 instead of the 4° advanced just to be safe. The R/T cam is $199 and the stock 5.2 cam is $172. Will the R/T cam be too much for my engine? I know I don't have the valve clearance like the 5.9's do. I don't wanna smash these new stainless valves I just ordered.

Call comp cams, and have a chat with them. See what they can do for you.

Ok. I will give them a call and see what they think. I don't need anything crazy. Just something I can slap in and not have to worry about or do any kind of special machining or tuning to make it work.

Well with the huge help of Merc225hp and the recommendation by HeyYou I have decided to get a cam made by comp. It's the 254HR-12. It's a stock style cam with a little more grunt. And I gotta give thanks to Hahns5.2 for the showing a good set of affordable valves. You guys on here are a huge help! I appreciate all the advice and I'm sure I will be needing all the help I can get since this is my first mopar buildup. My machinist said he felt bad for me and said he will put my new ss valves in for $15 a head. What's really sad is the truck didn't even start or run before everything went and broke. Valves still had the Sharpie marks on them lol I've began to notice that Mopar's do cost quite a bit more on parts.

I've read comp cams uses cast cores on their hyd roller cams. Is this true? If so I need to know so I can find another brand to buy my cam from.

EDIT: Just got off the phone with Comp and their cams are indeed ground on a cast core, but they can have the camshaft of your choice ground on a billet core for the same price. They said it will take a few days to have it done. Looks like I'm sticking with Comp.

Ok gents, I bought the mopar performance springs from jegs, but they kept pushing back my ship date so I cancelled with them. I got on HiPoTek's website and found the same kind of springs for $92. I talked to a gentleman named Richard and he said his springs were almost the same as the Mopar Performance springs (P5249464) I was trying to get. The only difference betwen his and the MP springs was that his had a 1.440 outer diameter and the MP's were 1.420 and the installed height on his were 1.660 and the MP's were 1.640. He said they will work just fine with my new MP retainers(P4452032) and my MP keepers (4529218) so I bought them. Does anyone jave any info on these and if in fact these will work the same?
