It's hard to see back there without my mirror but I will make some marks the best I can with my fine point Sharpie pen. I think when I painted my dizy before I put it back in after the cam install was a bad idea. I bet the paint is getting hot and letting the clamp slide.

Here are some pics of the stuff I've done to my truck for everyone that asked for pictures.

Are you using a tool to tighten the hold down clamp that is rubbing against the disty housing? I remember you telling me you weren't using a disty wrench. If it's some sort of socket, it might be walking the disty around while you are tightening.

I used to loosen it only so that I could just twist it with a firm grip. The amount of movement is so minute, just a small bump can send it 4° off the original setting. If the clamp is too loose, even the tension from the spark plug wires can twist it off where you set it.

A lot of slack in the timing chain or weak valve springs can also make it hard to get a handle on the actual fuel sync setting, but I think you've taken care of all that stuff.

I have been using a ratcheting wrench with a head that can bend up to 90°the either way. So far it's staying so my fingers are crossed lol And yes, anything to deal with slack should have been taken care of. I have the JP set you recommended and fully built heads with all new performance valves and hardware. I'm not proud to say how much I've got in the top end of this truck alone lol The money tree in the back yard was stripped and died a few weeks ago haha

That wrench is what I'm wondering about, if the round outer part of the wrench butts up against the distributor housing right down at the baSE, the housing could be turning the opposite way of the wrench as you tighten.

Do you have a set of open end wrenches that can do that same 90° swivel at the end?

I thought the same thing and while its on the bolt I had about a 1/4" of room between the outer edge of the wrench and the housing. I'm thinking I wasn't getting it tight enough and the paint was acting as a lubricant when it would get hot. It's been 2 days and she's still at +2. Maybe she's gonna stay now lol

It moved again today. I'm seriously thinking the sensor is bad. It does have 100,000 miles on it so I'm sure its overtime to be replaced.
