Engine and Plenum fixes...
Well... it finally happened. I completely and utterly lost my temper tonight. Partly due to frustration, mostly due to my dislike of my job which has not provided me a weekend in a LONG time.
Trying to get the oil pan and gasket back under the truck. Eventually lost my temper and flung them both straight across the yard. Bye bye paint job.
I also don't fully understand the instructions WRT where the RTV should go... so I just guestimated what I thought it meant.
I did finally get the pan and gasket up and under the truck, with a lot of yelling and banging with my fist. I'm pretty sure it'll leak... I suspect I'll pull it all down again tomorrow and take a look. I have the SLIGHTEST clue how to get it up into where it needs to go without banging the gasket onto something. I even used hi-tak to try and hold it in place - no luck. Beyond frustrated with this project having to take this long due to limited number of hours off... I can barely remember how it all goes back together.
How durable/resistant is that gasket? The bolts I did do up aren't beyond tight, just sort of holding it on lose. I have RTV against the gasket where ever it bends (that is to say, the top corners of where both semi-circles are). If I am not able to tighten this all down tomorrow, will that RTV harden and become useless?
End Rant.

I seem to be in a I don't give a **** mood, so I just tightened the bolts down. I'll torque them to spec tomorrow. I have no clue when I'll get this project done as it sounds like I'm working 2 more straight weeks and I'm trying to pull this off after getting home late in the evenings.
IF I decide not to redo it, then the underside of the truck is done. I'll try and put on the timing chain gasket and cover tomorrow.
InfO.

if that RTV set up before you tightened it down then its pretty much guaranteed to leak. If it does then pull it down and toss the gasket and use only RTV, it wont leak. you also want to make sure you tighten them down in a criss cross pattern.
I went back out and tightened some before it would have a chance... But to be honest, I did just the corner areas where there is RTV.

If you have to take it apart again and it is the rubber type gasket, the rtv will clean off it fairly ez, and you can re-use it. You don't need a lot of rtv on this gasket, and it reads like you have it in the right spot's. As IMP has suggested fish'n line is a big help.

Three things! First, add all the info about your truck to your sig AND profile please! Im not reading back 8 pages to see whether or not its a 4X4.
Second, IF it is a 4x4 , jack the front of the truck up under the frame rail that runs under the radiator and you'll have more clearance.
Third, when you take the pan back off because it's leaking, use/tie fishing line in every other hole on the pan to hold the gasket in place while you set the pan in place. Install the pan bolts to hold the pan up in the holes without the line. Then cut/remove the line and install those pan bolts.
Finally back into the project.
Oil pan was removed, cleaned, fish-lined, and re-installed. Installed the timing chain cover.
Girlfriend came up with an ingenious way to get the front main seal in:

Changed over to the HS Roller Rockers. Tossed on the valve covers. ****ed up 2 of the bolts by over tightening and stripping them. I'll sort that out later, tap it and go from there.

Worked on the fuel injectors, fuel rails and the cross over line. I gotta say... using barbs instead of just some sort of clamp is, in my opinion, the dumbest **** ever. And is now resulting in me needing to find another cross over line as the one I was supplied with in the FI Air Gap kit became pretty kinked when I tried getting it onto the second rail. At that point, decided to shut it down.
Just need to force the balancer back on and add some more things... and should be close to the time when I turn the key and nothing starts
