Hi I have a 2001 ram 1500 2wd ext cab I have just stock 16in tires I believe and I want to start going through deeper mud and stuff like that I was wondering what size tires I should get and should I get new rims or just roll with the oem's. I also would like to know if I should get a lift kit because I don't have the most ground Clearance. Also anything that you think would help with achieving in going through deep mud but on a 18y/o's budget. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it!!!
Larger tires. Whatever you can afford, with a rather aggressive tread pattern. I wouldn't go any larger than 35's though, as even at that size, you are going to have clearance problems with only 3" of lift.
4x2 + mud = bad idea. You will get stuck easy everytime.
Not really true.. With proper tires and a locker and some good driving it will be a good offroader... Hell my truck is 2 wheel drive.. I havent had any issues with getting to places like that.. Granted I knew my limits and have driven 2 wheel drives many of places..

For the thick stuff I think he means it isnt. Good locker would help great tho, compared to a one legger.
