Do you get power to the coil, etc, for a couple seconds when you first turn the key on?

But the ASD relay clicks..... so, the PCM is controlling it..... You should see power on TWO wires at the ASD relay, with key on. One is the main power feed for the relay. (to supply power to the coil, etc.) The other is the control circuit. The control circuit evidently has power, as the PCM can control it. Do you get the main power feed? (pin 30)

I will have to go back and re check for that. I likely won't get to it until Monday. They are forecasting rain where I live all day Saturday and Sunday and I'm working on the truck in my driveway. I will keep you posted on my findings thanks again!

Hey you,

You touched on something earlier with your reply, I have a question about. You said during testing I would only see power to the coil for about three seconds after turning the key on and cranking unless the PCM see it via the crank sensor. So for me to be clear, if the crank sensor detects the engine turning and attempting to start, it should have constant power? Because I saw absolutely none when cranking mine and I have replaced the sensor with a new one I got with the truck did it a couple of weeks ago. Also, when the starter is turning the engine in an attempt to start it, should the tachometer register those rpms or not respond mine does not? I thought the crank sensor is where the tach gets its rpm readings. Trying to figure out where to look I don't want to do the crank sensor again I'm hoping. That job is a beast very frustrating to get to.

You aren't seeing power at the coil while cranking? Or, you aren't seeing power at the crank sensor?

The coil, I did not test the crank sensor as it was replaced figured it was good, I will check it to be sure.

Ok, I had a break in the rain, so I tested the connector to the crank sensor for power with a test light. I turned the key to the on position and got no voltage when testing. Does it only get voltage for three seconds like the ignition coil when cranking? I did not test it while trying to crank it as I'm working alone right now.

I re-tested the connector at the crank sensor and this time I got power so I also hooked a multi-meter to it and got 5.17 volts. I guess I did something wrong but it has power with the key in the on position. I hope I don't need to pull the new crank sensor to test it. I even wiggled it to see if maybe there was a continuity issue the light remained on and steady.
