Yeah not sure about that either I'll talk to the lady and she said that they are going to notify the publishers but however something else I just noticed because I'm going to read every single word and go over every single diagram and on the first inside page it says copyright 1993 so the book was obviously printed in 1993 so what do you think will that cause an issue? I kind of figured the design went on unto the next year and they just used the same design in the 1994 and 95 trucks is that a safe assumption?

 

That is the original copyright. The manual has been updated several times since then.

 

Oh I see... I didn't realize. It appears to be a good Manual so far. I'll know more about it after I read a couple times and highlight some things I deem absolute "pay attention to's" .

 

Okay I have a question after reading the manuals I'm thinking I understood that the only difference between a 46 and a 47 is the amount of friction plates or clutches so if I buy a rebuild kit for a 47 is all the parts going to interchange with the 46?

 

They make upgrade kits for the 46, that way, you would be assured of a proper fit. The 47/48 also have more pinion gears in the planetary gearset. (heavier duty parts)

 

Okay, I'll talk to my local auto parts man, before looking online... I'm gonna take my time and build a brute if possible..I have a posse looking for anything that will fit temporarily, or for a few months. Texas cant decide whether it wants to flood, freeze, drought. I'm gonna do more research on heavier duty guts. I hate to keep imposing on you for every little idea. I'm extremely grateful for everything you've shared already.

 

Use the video mentioned above. It's the one I used to rebuild mine. EVERY thing is covered for the 46RH/46RE and 47/48. If he says it should be replaced, replace it. If built properly it will handle all of the torque and horsepower the stock engine can throw at it. Watch the whole video series before rebuilding it. Lots of information. After I watched it I ordered a rebuild kit. Get one that has new frictions and steels. Get a valve body rebuild kit, Sonnax Zip Kit P/N 46-47RHE-ZIP to upgrade your shifting program, It's a manual program NOT computer program. You can count on it...this Saturday I'm devoting to reading manuals and watching rebuild videos... can't TY ENOUGH..

 

There is a difference between the 46/47/48 drums, you have to get a different pressure holding plate for the drum and you might have to machine the drum to hold the extra clutches. Its easier to buy a complete reman'd 48RE direct 5 clutch drum. Sames goes for the front drum.
You can also add extra clutches to the overdrive unit. Probably a waste if your just going to run a stock engine.

Not sure on how much power you plan on making or extra $$$ you want to spend. There are also other bits that needs upgrading if your going to make some power.

I just found a complete take out of a running 2001 dodge 360/46re transmission for $500 for my truck.
