Likely there's still a bolt that wasn't removed. There may be one just above the starter that holds the transmission to the block that somewhat hides from view.

Lower the rear of the trans, so you can see in there better. I think there are six bolts that hold the trans to the engine, but, their might be eight..... There are also alignment dowels in the block ,that really like to 'become one' with the trans. Consider how many years it has been in there.

It was the rear bracket that I thought enough of it was removed but nope. lol. I did get the transmission down and removed. Dropped the over drive off and removed the convertor so I could carry it to my table in my little shop. I have some pictures of it both together and the tail off. I did find the first retainer broke as soon I went to take it out ( Video shows wavy but mine is flat). The everything else looked good no real signs of wear. I will post some pictures of then when I get back out there.

Basically, I did a light tear down since I had to pull the tail off to be able to carry it. I didn't do too bad for a one man pull for my age. I will definitely use a helper when putting it back in. I have assembly lube coming it this week. I figure I will take my time during the week with the tear down and make sure everything is laid out as the video does. I will update as the progress goes and get pictures as well. Thanks

I have to order a overdrive snap ring kit this week. I have to get a three leg tool made before I can take apart the rest of the overdrive apart.I have the press ready for that. Waiting for a friend to return to work to have it done. Unfortunately someone drove out in front of him so I don't know when he will return back to work? Next will be the valve body removed then on to the disassembly of the main. Once the internals are removed. I will clean it and take it to have the threads fixed for the bottom pan. I will get some more pictures of the parts and progress. Thanks for the help guys.

Another Update: Well tear down is complete. Didn't see any real wear but haven't gotten in the disk side yet. Band looked really good no wear spots. I did some pictures. I'm weird but I am actually enjoying the process and learning a lot.

As you can see. I live on a dirt road. Next is pressure washing the case and getting it clean. I did see some slight gray colored sludge here and there but nothing seemed damaged so far. For a 166,000 miles on it. I expected maybe worse. Gaskets were hard and somewhat stuck on. The video goes into rebuild and trouble shooting. It also shows you how to test with air to make sure everything is working as intended. I still will have to find time to drop off case to have it repaired of the two stripped bolt holes. I will keep you guys updates, Thanks

If you have looked through the pictures. There doesn't seem to be wear signs. I am waiting for friend to make a three leg to use with my press on the overdrive so I can get access to those friction plates and such. So far they don't anywhere near end of life. I am starting to think maybe the problem may have to do with pressure and seals. I'm going to contact the guy about the converter and work out the details to buy it by next weekend. Everything came out with no hassles and nothing is chewed up or scored. All the bearing are smooth no sounds. I think so far I have been lucky. Once I get the others dis-assembled . I will post some more pictures. Thanks Guys

That's a open question there. lol. I already have the rebuild kit, Zip Kit. What are you thinking as in upgrades?

Just seen USPS I am taking it shoved my snap ring kit into the postal box we have down the road. They wont come down my road with the puddles. I hope they didn't mess them up. I'm dreading the walk down to the end of the road to see. They will just squeeze things in there.

Over all, the tear down seems to be going really good. Everything is coming apart with no issues. I haven't seen any metal at all. I do have a question about flushing the lines from the radiator. Is air enough ? The radiator was replaced a few years ago. I have to replace the rear line I twisted up. Just trying to get everything done before I finish.

Air and some solvent, both directions for the cooler and lines. You want to be REAL sure that thing is CLEAN. Also, keep in mind, it isn't rated for real high pressure..... So, I wouldn't go more than 20 PSI on it.

5 pinion planetary gear? I think there is also one in the O/D unit that can be upgraded, but, don't remember exactly. More clutches/steels is another good upgrade... but, since you already have your kit... probably not in the cards.
