My past experience is most of these kits you buy often cover more than one model so the left over parts in this kit are just for other series of the transmission. Some will be due to the fact that I will be using Zip Kit on the valve rather then what came with the kit I bought.
As it stands everything that needed to be replace has been used from the video I was using. It's done from the tail to the pump at this point. The only missing part is the valve body. I have done the test as he pointed out and check everything he said to check so I am good there.
Since it's out. I am replacing the lines with new ones and replacing the O2 sensors while they are easy to access since the down stream is bad anyway. I'm currently looking for Borg Pressure switches to get ordered. I just replace lock up & overdrive solenoid with harness back in May of 22. I bought the complete kit with both pressure sensors. Anything that could be replaced without removing the valve body has been replaced with new parts. That is where the term Band-Aid term came from when I made the decision to just rebuild and mover forward.
I am open to opinions or questions anyone may have. I'm close to getting her back on the road to test and run it for a few day's before I go back in on my next project with replacing the timing chain that I am sure it's due. Thanks again guys.
Man, I couldn't even get mine as clean as yours. I'm going to have to cover and clean a spot good enough to do the same with information of rebuild. I just completed the valve body rebuild. My problem is I bought the solenoid kit back in May of 22 and I am questioning if I should just order a new kit or replace these back in? My problem was slipping and erratic shifting. Sometimes it was good or little off or just play goofy delays. Limited experience with rebuild knowledge doesn't help with making this call with complete confidence. I wont be ready for install till next weekend since I am waiting on a my O2 down stream sensor to come in this week. I replaced the up stream but found out the down stream was bad also. I just figured while it's out. This would be the best time to replace it as well as the trans lines I just got in. I am almost there.
Just another thought. If you haven't already done so, adding a drain plug to the transmission pan is very helpful. If for some reason you need to drop the pan to address an issue in the transmission, a drain plug makes catching and re-using the fluid much easier. I had to go through draining and re-installing the fluid when it was determined that my transmission rebuilder installed the incorrect electronics in the transmission. After draining the fluid, he had to drop the pan and valve body, remove and install the correct electronics and re-install the valve body, pan gasket, transmission pan and fluid.

I have been thinking about that but haven't pulled the trigger. Since it's off. I will be looking to getting one and doing it. At least if it does come to replacing anything. I can catch the fluid and reuse it. I will be at the auto parts store anyway.
Just as an FYI, I used an aftermarket aluminum deep TCI transmission pan on my last rebuilt 46RE and it came with a drain plug built-in. Most of the aftermarket deep transmission pans for the 46RE/47RE/48RE seem to all come with a built-in drain plug. Since you're trying to stick with a fairly stock rebuild, adding a drain plug to the stock pan would likely be the most cost-effective option.

I checked out your link and it didn't fit mine but I found one that does with drain plug for $30. Heck it's worth it. Thanks. I did notice during the tear down of the valve body there was black sludge build up but like real bad but enough to coat your finger tip. I'm sure is very typical for the millage on it. Mainly build up no signs of any metal. Overall I have really enjoyed doing this rebuild. If you said I would be doing this 30 yrs ago. I would have said your crazy.lol. So far I have over came any issue I ran into and fixed them ( or I should say corrections). I will install converter sometime this week to take my measurements to make sure those are correct. I wrote everything down when I took it out. I have some pictures of the valve body tear down and cleaning. You see the sludge and where I made a finger tip impression.

Go ahead and replace the governor pressure sensor and solenoid again. Get the borg warner heavy duty kit. May not hurt to replace the output speed sensor as well..... after all, everything else is new/rebuilt, why put old electronics back in? (here, let me spend some more of your money. )

A lot of that has been changed in the last 6 months before I started thinking rebuild. This is why I have been on the fence with these few parts. I did order a new pan with drain plug from Amazon and it will be in tomorrow so that problem is solved and now I wont have to deal with the ole balancing act anymore.lol. I am finding select parts are getting to where they aren't available even locally. I was looking for either NTK or Denso downstream O2 sensor and it's going to take NAPA 3 day's to get the Denso. NTK is simply unlivable. eBay seems to be the place to find most parts including Borg. I am currently looking now for them. Thanks
