K&N FIPK No More

RE: K&N FIPK No More
I forgot that random screw. I had to cut mine too. I used a big pair of side cutters to snip it off since I didn't think I could get a hack saw in there very good.
Sounds like you need a new battery though. And when you reset the PCM, disconnect the battery, then turn the ignition key for 20-30 seconds. This discharges any stored current in the system and purges the memory module. You will know you did it correctly if the truck runs rich when you first start it up (sometimes for only a few seconds, sometimes for several minutes). That is how the default program runs until the sensors start returning inputs for the PCM to make adjustments with.
I can't beleive it took four hours to install that though. Mine took like an hour, including fabing the s-bolt and driving over to Advance Auto to get the standalone breather. It took me longer to disconnect my old air assembly (FIPK) then it did to install the round filter. Oh well, at least you got it on.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Yeah it took forever because of the hose and nipple situation. I wish I would have tried to fit the hose over the nipple before cutting holes into the lid. But since I did I can't use a breather now since there would be the holes in it.
You think the hose is trouble next to the intake?
EDIT: Anyone who wants this setup and has not done it yet I would definitely recommend getting the breather instead of hooking up the hose to it, of course thats if there are no holes in the lid already.

Hey Ripto, I forgot to mention there is a screw hanging down that you have to hacksaw off. I remember having to do that too.
Don't worry about the hose touching the intake. Check it every few months by squeezing it and looking for cracks. It will eventually become hard and brittle by being so close to the intake, but shouldn't cause any problems otherwise. When you go to replace it, get a filter for the intake and put a cap over the end of the nipple like I described in the PM. You might even be able to get a plate that will match right up to the holes on the opening. Look around the auto parts store next time you stop in and see what you can find.
Glad you got it on. It looks real good. You'll have that whistling sound at certain rpm's when you're just starting to work the motor, like going up a hill. Just pretend your truck is turbo-charged and enjoy the sound.
