ok....getting ready to purchase my Pacesetter LTS.....i need to know if it is important to get high-flow cats? if so im gonna grab some magnaflow high flow cats to match the muffler i got on now.
also, i was told to be careful with opening up the exhaust too much, could be a loss of torque....does this advice have merit?
final question.....do i need to buy a 2nd magnaflow muffler for true dual exhaust...or just keep the one muffler with both pipes running into it like it is now without headers?

Yes opening the exhaust to much will create a lose in backpressure thus a lose in torque.
If you want a true dual set up u need 2 single in single out mufflers and a cross over pipe. Wheter it be an H-pipe or X-pipe.
also if ur in a state that does emission testing the long tube will probly not pass. Like California or Virginia you would need shorties with a C.A.R.B stamp
Hey Guys, I got a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 quad cab, 4.7L v8. So far the mods I've done is a full K&N cold air intake system (plastic intake tube), BBK Performance throttle body, NKG platinum spark plugs, K&N oil filter, Flowmaster 40 Super Delta Flow muffler and a Magnaflow Heavy Metal series Hi Flow Cat system. Now looking to do headers and I'm sure as what's good brand name wise. I know I want stainless. Any information, tips, how installation went and mostly how it sounds would be most appreciated.
I do have a Superchips Flashpac, but it does NOT offer rear O2 delete. I just tucked my rear O2's above the heat shields. I have had them like that all summer and put a couple thousand miles on it like that + a few bottles of nitrous and haven't had a check engine light.....I was expecting a cat efficiency code...but nothing. Checked it with my scanner (OTC) rears are flat lined but nothing code wise. I haven't run it without the programmer so I don't know if it helps or not. As for more power over a high flow cat.....Probably not enough to notice...But there is no emission testing here so I didn't want to waste money on cats. My 95 lost it's cat to...but no rear O2 so no problem with that one.
I don't see much talk about headers for the 4.7
What is the favorite for headers on this engine?
What does adding headers do for fuel economy?
My 4.7 is currently dead, but once I get it going again, I am considering some upgrades.

Question..if any one is out there..bought my daytona used two years ago..I've been reading post and um starting to think my exhaust set up is wrong..or not what it could be...I have two pipes...two cats...one muffler..it is fm..so I have no crossover pipe..and unsure if fm makes a muffler with built in crossover inside muffler..10.5mpg city...16.5hgwy..my truck is rcsb 4x4 ..muffler on passenger side..dumped..sorry 02quadcab..I don't know
Jcb, I bought my Daytona new. It (had) 2 converters in the pipes off the manifolds which went down into a y pipe then to the borla muffler...single in duel out...to the twin round chrome tips exiting on the passenger side. If that helps any...?
Anyone with headers that seem particularly low profile? Looking for a header that will fit a hemi transplant into my Dakota here and there's very little room on the passenger side with the 4.7 in it.
