There has GOT to be a better way to get a tune in this thing. Here's what I had to do to get it going ... not sure which part actually did the trick.
Pulled the PDC and cleaned ALL of the contacts and reinstalled. Pulled connectors from the PCM and cleaned all of THOSE connectors. Cleaned the OBD connector - all with electric contact cleaner.
Brand new battery by the way, about 2 months old ... hooked up battery charger and set it to manual at 10 amps charging rate. (highest without going to 60 amp starting mode)
Found a sacrificial chicken and beheaded it. Don't worry, chickens are good eatin'
Must have repeated the tune cycle about 12 times and FINALLY it took. Tuned it with 87 tune. Seems that once it's in, it works perfectly fine. It backed up my stock tune, flashed the 87 tune and done.
Any tricks or ideas?
For giggles, tried it again shortly thereafter and no dice. It's very finnacky at best to get this to flash.
I've heard of issues flashing the '03's but by now, I would think there HAS to be a way to get it to "glitch" in easier. Maybe a localized battery attachment somewhere for a little more power to get in there ... who the heck knows.
Maybe some sort of sequence that works better, turning the ignition on/off timing wise .... fuses pulled, etc.

Oh, here's one thing I learned. You don't have to wait 20 minutes each time for it to fail. Once you turn the ignition on for the tune, if it doesn't come up with the tune menu within 30 seconds, try again. My Flashpaq actually started to blink a few times almost right away and then presented the menu when it finally went through. But if you're stuck at the Please Wait ... for any longer than 30 seconds, it isn't going to work after 20 minutes.

If you have Advanced trans tune, sounds like you have excessive overlap between gears.
