Hmm well we will see about that then. The thing I do not like about the race converter is that they seem small which seems like it will slip more under load which builds more heat which I do not need. I do not tow often but when I do tow its usually big, so yeah I might do a pass on that then. I would be down with a cam some headers and the associated exhaust mods. We will see.

I had the Edge street Edge Converter installed Monday. http://www.edgeracingconverters.com/...products_id=43

First, the picture isn't of the actual converter. The converter is the same size as the stock converter 11-1/2". My stall came out to 2800, it is not subtle in stop and go traffic as the engine does drives into the converter to move the truck. However on the highway it locks up nicely. I got back yesterday from a 400 mile trip and got an amazing 16 mpg with mixed driving. I wouldn't recommend this converter for a 4x4 or heavy towing. I feel "real" truck type work and performance focused specifically on acceleration are not compatible. A truck is not a racer, to make it a racer compromises it' strength of being a truck. Add in a truck that's a 4x4 even requires greater compromises. Of course we are not really racing our trucks but just seeing what mods increase their performance in different areas. IMHO, don't lose focus on what you actually need your truck to do for you day to day. Installing the wrong cam, TC, gear or even exhaust can ruin the trucks actual usefulness. I'm preaching as an old man who has been there and done that. Good luck and have FUN...

Well said VA, it is always important to keep in mind what each of us uses or truck for when choosing mods. What is a great mod for one guy might be horrible for another simply because of the different ways they use their trucks.

AF, what is the deal with you throwing codes when you do WOT runs? Any luck on finding what the cause is? I saw your thread over on DT about it earlier this morning.

Hey Teach we should get this thing stickied. It seems to be thriving well.

Yeah so I have basically decided that the converter is out for me unless they make a high efficiency one with a much lower stall cause if I run a 2800 stall imagine how much that would flash to if I were to tow 8 or 9 thou. I think in my case headers Lt's if possible, a nice cam and some trans mods should make me happy.

PS has anyone found LT's for a 4x4 2500?

Have you looked at pro torque for a converter? I believe they make performance converters with towing in mind.

I will stick it to the top when I get home. On my phone right now so I can't stick it at the moment.

The pro torque converters are supposedly more efficient at getting power to the wheels than either aps or edge and can handle more power than either of them can as well. A bit more pricey though and they are still in the "design / test" pahse if I rember correctly.

I believe you are correct. I think the truck converters are still being tested but I know that there is at least one guy on HTC who has one and had good things to say about it.

FYI: thread is stuck. If it stays busy I will leave it up here but if it dies off then it will have to come down. So keep the performance talk up guys!
