Miles per gallon- What are you getting?
Lowest this month 14.8mpg highest 16.7mpg in my 05' 1500 RC SB with the 5.7L HEMI. Best tip for better gas mileage ALWAYS check your tire pressure, got a 1mpg gain just from inflating the tires to 5lbs under the max pressure rating on the tire.
Actual mileage calculated (not using the overhead readout) I'm at 14.5 mpg on average.
Sunday 91 mile trip south on I-95 to O's game in Baltimore from Philly, 19.5 - 21.5 mpg @ 70+ mph with the A/C blaring, same on the return trip home.
City mileage anywhere from 13-15 mpg. This tank is the first showing these numbers. I used premium gas for the first time ( don't know if it matters) and didn't get on it when leaving the red lights (man is that hard!). Today turned over the 3000 mile mark.
As for 40 Mpg...i don't come nowhere near those numbers. I did try to touch the bumper of a trailerless Mack Truck. Drafting off of him, i think I'd get at least 40 or better, if not killed. lol.

This thread was my whole reason for joining here. I have owned a 2002 dodge ram 1500 QC 4x4 5.9L with 130000 kms for about two months now and have changed the following: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, O2 sensor(between cat and motor), air filter, thermostat, throttle body flush, injector flush, rad flush, checked for brake drag, and have had three machanics try to give me a diagnostic onmy problem of poor fuel economy and no one was able to find anything wrong with it. I refuse to believe that this truck is as bad as my numbers say since i haven't heard of anything like it even on the net. So here goes; my truck reads 7-8 mpg on average or 30-31L per 100kms. I was told that maybe my computer is not reading right so i checked my fuel economy per tank. From when the fuel light goes on I fill up with 80L and after 250 kms the fuel light is on again so i fill the same amount. I know i didnt buy the most fuel efficient vehicle out there but c'mon this is ridiculous. By the way the truck is all stock with 20" rims and 3.92 gears. Anyone hear of this kinda mileage before? Is this normal for this vehicle?and is there anything i can do to fix it?Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
90% city driving. When i first picked it up i tried to keep the RPM's under 2000 because i was told that the truck is a pig on gas and i wanted to see how well i do on the mileage. Next tank i drove it hard to see the difference. And third tank i drove normal. Not much difference maybe 20kms per tank from driving hard to under 2000 rpms. Dunno... i cant believe the guy with the SRT-10 is getting better fuel economy. Something is wrong and every mechanic that i spoke with says that if the check engine light is not on its all good. I am thinking about buying the snap-on diagnostic reader and going into business my self. Just kidding. By the way i am totally uneducated when it comes to cars, so it could be something very simple that someone with an ounce of knowledge would have spotted right away. Again, any suggestions are welcome. I did notice today that i need an alignment i doubt that would cause a loss of about 4-5 mpg.
